Panther should be a good light sniper, hit and run mech. BAP, advanced zoom should be able to harass and p off all the Land Pigs, and Whales successfully :)

Must be a really dang good mech, it offed some bigger mechs and had them running home with thier tails between their legs.

Their first large-scale use by Kurita warriors came during the First Succession War in the battle for Quentin, when the 2nd Legion of Vega used their Panthers to severely maul the slower, heavier 'Mechs of the 42nd Avalon Hussars while avoiding return fire.

From sarna.

And I think those 2 LoV Panthers probably did that with the normal 200? Or hte Hermes 140 lol. engine...lol..so........yeah.

In the right environments a few jumpjets can make for more mobility than several steps up in engine sizes. This is why the Urbanmech's really slow speed isn't an issue, it's backed up by enough jumpjets to allow it to have more mobility in urban environments than faster mechs without them.

What mechs did the 42nd use? Mediums and Heavies?

Likely both. But the fluff only said the heavier force.

I tried a STD-Engine Spider with 124 kph as preperation for the upcoming Koshi. It was fast enough for harrasing the enemy if you play smart. You can go heads up with other lights, but you are dust if you try to openly engage anything heavier.
