Hmm... well I'd at least cut the phrase down to:

No Animals Were Harmed In The Making Of Mechwarrior Online. Only Humans.

The last repeated part should be removed IMHO.

It's hard for me to get upset about that line when Battletech has taglines like

'Kill the meat save the Metal'

and

'Life is cheep. Battlemechs are expensive'

I am sure this loading screen tip was just meant as a cute joke about those disclaimers we see in TV and film, but it's really not funny if you know about the industry norm of humans actually being harmed when making games.

I'm talking about the crunch and layoff cycle. I'll just leave those links rather than get into details, but needless to say, it is life-crushing and not sustainable.

I don't know how staffing and hours were when developing MWO, and I am going to give the benefit of the doubt that they were humane. The joke does sort of seem to poke fun at all the hard work involved even in the best of times, which is fine except for the sort of lack of self-awareness of how it sounds because of a related and larger issue. It makes me uncomfortable when I see the message, sometimes even concerned.

I don't know what I'm saying, really. It's insensitive? I'm oversensitive? Pull the loading screen tip? Add a "just kidding?" Maybe.

Blargh, how do I into humor??

You piss me off.... yes, do put a just kidding, PGI put this as a joke, and you may have caused unwanted attention as of now. I mean, a lot of us know about that already. Come on, if you don't know what you're saying, don't even post it. [redacted]

And for you sir, a link. Yes, yes, you're not a game designer with an indie game on steam etc., not the point.

Only one of the above is serious. If you can call it that.

"Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side!!!"

Now THAT'S an insensitive joke! What about the poor poor chickens that DIDN'T make it to the other side?! They died, man! And what about the chickens that couldn't get the nerve up to cross the road at all? Poor timid souls...

Yes, OP, that is how ridiculous you sound.

While this all may or may not have been meant as a joke - I would much rather wait longer for things to come out - than see PGI suffer burn out.

Having said that:

I cut my hand once when I was racking our new studio servers that were used to develop MWO.

Not necessarily. Lockjaw can be very subtle.

Oh yeah I forgot: I got my DTaP shot when one of my kids was born so I'm set for tetanus for a while.

I'd get the flu shot but I seem to have some sort of genetic immunity to it so it seems pointless. I seem to have passed that trait on to my children but it might be a bit too early to tell.
