Need help. I downloaded MWO today. It downloaded and installed just fine. I even got to play tutorial. Then I went and changed the mouse sensitivity and saved it. The game closed it self and every time I try to log in to it closes out and doesn't launch game. If anybody has a solution.

have you tried running the repair tool? it's accessed from the launcher; click on the little gear icon at the top-right and start the repar tool.

I have tried running repair tool. It said everything was fine. Plus I hit fix anyway. Still nothing.

Do you by any chance have Teamspeak?
If so is it on?
Does it have an Overlay enabled?

Or, are you running anything else that might use an "Overlay"?

Mechwarrior Online is known for being iffy about overlays (it sometimes regards them as cheating software and closes because of this; sometimes with a specific error, sometimes without). My teamspeak used to cause MWO to crash a lot due to the "Overwolf" overlay thingy.

On to the next thing: Windows, Apple O/S or Linux? If anything other than Windows... that might be why.

No to the issues so far?
Then try this.
Go into your computer to find the game folder.
MechWarrior Online\USER\Profiles\Sn33zy
Now delete "Profile.xml" and "actionmaps.xml"
Try to run the game again.

Lemme know what happens.

Ok. I just got this comp yesterday and it's my first time with windows 8.1. Will it be a bother if I asked if you can be a lil more detailed.

Windows 8 compatibility has been kinda...wonky. Though it does work.

Teamspeak (open it).
Settings. Plugins. Uncheck "TeamSpeak 3 control plugin".

No, it doesn't.

To expand on Kon's instructions, go to the install folder for the game (by default it will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online). Delete systemoverride.cfg. Try again. If that doesn't work go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Profiles\Sn33zy. Delete profile.xml and actionmaps.xml. Try again.

If it's still not working, contact support@mwomercs.com .

Make sure the game runs as administrator and that you have an administrator account. I run 8.1 fine (64-bit).

Ok. I would like to thank you all a lot special thanx to Koniving for his suggestion it's working now. Just one thing wrong with it is every time I change any thing in settings then save it it durps out. It crashes or sometimes minimizes the screen and wont let me restore it. But I do what Koniving said and it fixes it. So I guess I will just leave settings alone till they fix it.

Is the game installed in the /Program Files directory? (I'm not familiar with win8 but in win7 it goes to program files) Under win7 the program files directory is often set to read-only and a program would need elevated permissions to make any changes to any of the contents, and you probably have some sort of permission conflict happening so that the game does not have permission to make changes to it's own game files, so you can't save your settings. Just a guess though.

I'm running Windows 7 and even if I set it to 'Run as Administrator' it still has the shield icon on the shortcut and brings up the 'do you want this program to make changes to your computer?' window.

I'd email support on this and see if they have any further suggestions. My brother has 8.1 but his settings save fine, though he has mentioned that sometimes his weapon groups get reset in his mechs.

Redshift is probably right and it's some kind of permission conflict.

Don't try to install this game to a custom folder. It makes it angry. You won't like it when it's angry. I had that exact same problem because of it. Reinstalled the entire game to it's default folder (lousy mumble mumble) and then immediately ran the Repair tool. Lots of errors fixed.

Game ran fine (save for it being only marginally functional on my computer which runs Windows H8. (see what I did there?)

Never had any problems with MWO or any other software on Windows 8.1. Its just Windows 7 with a new front end and some upgrades. True, Modern UI is really bad, but since you don't have to use it I don't see the problem.
