Last night I was one click away from uninstalling the game. But this morning I decided to write down some of the thoughts and ideas I've had over the last month of playing.

I didn't play battletech or any other mechwarriro games. Don’t really know if this has been used before or in any other game.

The way I see it these are the issues with the game right now
  • Unskilled players are dropped with greatly more skilled players
  • Players with different attitudes are dropped together causal vs competitive
  • Lack of leadership direction
  • drops with different role setup that are not complementary of each other. To many ranged payers not enough brawlers or vica versa, LRM boats with no spotters or no ECM
  • drops where mechs are not optimized for the map. Short range in Alpine valley or hot mechs on hot maps
  • Lack of organized training on game play
I played in beta up until open beta and these have been around since then. So I think the follow suggestions could make it better.

Casual or competitive play
Like we chose mode, we could choose what play style we would like to make. To address the different skill and attitude
  • Competitive:
    • Access to Leaderboard, Community Warfare, Achievements
    • No pilot rating, everyone is the same.

  • Casual:
    • Users pilot rating based how well they play. Something based on all the new rewards that are measuring not only damage but everything else done in the match.
    • Similar pilot ratings are put together.
Commander Bonus

To encourage more leadership in matches
  • Player chooses to become leader
  • They provide guidance on the field using commander’s map and chat
  • If the team wins gets bonus to cb/xp
  • Maybe some type of thumbs up or down from other players affects bonus.
  • Achievement for successful wins
  • Special bonus if get’s thumbs up from opposing force.
  • Team members get bonus if there was a commander and they win the match.
Briefing Room

To address role and map issues
  • Once a player hits connect they are group with 11 other players based on pilot rating.
  • The map and mode will be displayed
  • In the room they have one minute to review roles with the ability to switch mechs with already prepared mech lineup. Like the Dropship Mode that has been talked about.
  • There is still the 3/3/3/3 restriction to keep teams balanced.
  • The team commander could be selected/chosen here.
OPFOR (Opposing force training)
  • OPFOR would be made up of skilled pilots
  • Have Leader/mentor for newbie force giving commands
  • After Action review to give new pilots feedback on builds and playing.

Well since there hasn't been any response I guess i was way off base.

Man I wanted to play this game, it has so much potential, but right now I just get so frustrated playing it.

Good luck and I will check back next year.

Many of those ideas have been suggested before many times to be honest. Some form of briefing room would greatly help the game if it allowed players to quickly talk and change mechs before a match and come up with a plan to be honest.

Responses sometimes takes days. Particularly constructive, contributed responses.

And yes, these things are suggested often but rarely implemented. :(

As soon as they finish Community Warfare they can move the game out of Open Beta, officially launch, and address a number of these issues.

Sorry I wasn't expecting a response from the PGI and I didn't know others had suggested.

I'll shut up.

Thanks

Hey man that's what forums are for, even if someone else has said it, PGI can take note that someone else has independently come to the same conclusions.
