How much more "casual" can you get than endless 6 to 10 minute skirmishes, with the only goal being to earn virtual currency with which to buy different skins/loadouts with which to play more 6 to 10 minutes skirmishes.

Deep it aint.

Well, unless you count all the time I spend in Smurfy's - a utility not actually part of the game - creating different weapons loadouts for the 60 or so Mechs I own. I suppose that part's not "casual".

I don't know. A Casual player Plays cause he likes to, when he wants to. In that respect I am a casual player. I am not driven to own all the Mechs. I am not driven to win every match. I want to, I am just old and experienced enough to know that ain't going to happen. I am pretty casual, and I agree with the OP.

I do like the new reward system, but if it got taken way and we were put back into the old system (where I made quite a bit less per match) I'd be fine.

I do own almost every mech (missing the 4 newest heros) and I still don't consider myself "Hardcore". Why, because I don't take this game too seriously. I have fun in wins and losses. If I go on a 20 game losing streak (sometimes it feels like it) and had fun, I still win. If I go on a 20 game win streak and didn't have fun, I lose (and would likely stop playing).

I'm a decent enough player, with more money than time to be honest (buying all those big packs helped get me all those mechs after all). But from my experience cbills aren't too hard to come by. I played a bunch of stock cbill mechs to grind cbills for the other cbill mechs. I'm only now upgrading them to be more MWO friendly (I'd love a stock mech mode where you earned XP/cbills). I get invited to play with team regularly, and they all know that I'm pretty casual in my playstyle. None seem to mind.

Last not least every player of MWO is a "baron what ever" with connections so we could have unique mechs fresh from the production lane - clean, with unique structures bulkheads internals never build.

Really hope they make CW a "restricted Mech" or "Stock Mech" game mode - with balancing in CW. Ignoring the "public"

if you are refering to the house - i prefer earthworm - snake can kill you - a earthworm can't

If memory serves, and it's been a long while, "Snakes" was used in the books as a derogatory term for that particular house. He wanted Hardcore players.......

CW faction beat downs are gonna be for the more hardcore players who hate each other. The casual queue is for people who aren't as into it as you.

Are you saying there isnt much "hate" in the community already?
IS vs Clan
Vets vs Noobs
White Knights vs Black Knights
Everybody vs PGI

We are a difficult audiance in the best of times.
In the worst of times we are a mob burning down this Forum.

I have no idea how you connected C-Bill income threads with CW and "casuals".

Did I say this: No.

Did I intend to: No, so there you go.

The only hate in this community is between Black Knights and PGI (and stupid White Knights v/s Black Knights). And by hate I meant throwing around lively comments about each other's factions.

A game needs to try and appeal to all players (hardcore and casual), and not just to do well, but to survive.

IMO, this game has already attracted the hardcore (many since closed beta, and for months after open beta). Now, to keep new people coming (and staying), it needs to appeal and cater to them as well.

You can't make this black and white and say I want the game for the hardcore fan and casual players need to get hard core or leave, that just doesn't work.

Like many things in life, there needs to be a compromise. That is always better for everyone involved.

All these C-bill posts are making me sick. I don't know what is causing all this sympathy for non-hardcores but I don't want them in the game unless they too will become hardcore in the end.

This game should be about CW and dedicated faction hatred and the roleplaying associated with that.

By letting casuals increase in number I am less likely to see faction appropriate livery and trash talk. That lessens my enjoyment quite a bit.

People who are worried about PGI's bottom line are not correct. You give them money and they don't hire more map guys, they redirect it to failed MechWarrior Tactics or Transverse.

People can speculate all they want about player numbers and how that affects matchmaker but without real data it is pointless and anecdotal.

Noobs/Casuals don't need advocates. They can speak for themselves. This is not a joke thread.

HAHAHAHAHA! Man, it sounds like you need to step away from your computer and go catch a breath of fresh air. I think the oxygen levels are getting low in the basement.

Not only are you in the minority of "hardcore" gamers, who has countless hours to dedicate to playing a video game (for some unknown reason), but I think you're even in the minority of hardcore gamers. Who gets upset with the people who have lives to live outside of sitting in front of a computer all day?

So it's all about you? How very mature and open minded of you....

Really? I didn't realize you were the primary stock holder/owner/developer....

Again, didn't realize you were on staff. BTW, aren't you talking out of both sides of your mouth here? First you say we have no clue about what PGI's financials are, then turn right around and tell us what they will do with their money.

Yep. But didn't just do that very same type of speculation above?

How do you know that all these "sympathizers" are casuals themselves? Maybe not "noobs" (nice derogatory term there} themselves, but casual players who have been around a while? (PS: that would be me for example).

One other thing.....

So is the OP thinking that he and the other "Hardcore" players can/will fund this game on their own?

Pretty sure Russ and Co. will not work for free, and highly doubt that they'll work for cheap.

What about P2L? I would pay MCs to get the multiple shot ACs for IS and LBX too.
Would also pay for lower velocity - of my ACs and Gauss...and PPCs

In short, "worthwhile" micro transactions must be pay to win. Because any micro-transaction that effects gameplay will be abused by those who are willing to pay the most so as to get the most advantage.
