So, without further ado this chassis challenge will end at 11:59 tonight... I managed to get to 4th place for the Summoner( GRR, I couldn't play anymore because of life, lol ), which is good in my opinion. For those who won, Congratz! For those who didn't however, better luck next time! I think one thing that should have been added to the challenge was the most damage bonus, as I managed to do a lot of damage to an opponent multiple times, only to have it killed by another player.

It's was built for solo players with solo drop only to win but had to have 11 other random players win it for you? I think it's the dumbest thing so far. I come off this event hating the players in this game more then ever and plan to go for myself and say F the team ever time I play now. GG PGI Close.

Yeah, only counting victories really sucks. I had a few 800-900 damage matches that got thrown out because my derp derp potato teammates. It really sucks.

same here it's hard enough to use clan light mechs for anything with almost no speed. Having to count victories on the players running the heavy mechs felt like I was being cheated the whole Event. At one point I had a day 2 player not shooting IS SRMs at point blank range he had two 6s and two 4s. When asked why he didn't use them he said he was waiting for the red lock and beep sound to fire. I mean come on I have to rely on this guy to win?

I'm sad the WubShee didn't do better, but I suppose I'll have an hour to try and get one of those perfect matches; I've only gotten one this tourney, and it was for the NopeVa.

This will be the last tourney with the current score formula, Russ has confirmed that on Twitter, so we'll see what the next one brings. Hopefully the Most damage done+Assist will equal, or be greater than a kill (but less than a kill+most damage done).

You might be able to get a general picture of how many people actually play the game. Most people who signed up probably focused on one mech so they could get high up on the leaderboard.

I don't know about that. I focused on three and scored in 7.

Well there was probably plenty who didn't participate at all. so assuming that, you could estimate just by how many players were in each mech. It might not be super accurate but its better than people joining solo matches and waiting to see their friends more than once, then making guesses based on that.

More than 400 in the Cute Foxes; I can check the Atlai this evening. I'll just play a single match, while still playing normally.

Neither is preferable. Solid numbers from the people who know them are the only thing that would be even remotely accurate. We aren't likely to ever get them though.

It's more than 700 with the Atlas. I only played a couple in it.

I decided that the only way I'm going to take time for the next tournament is if the scoring system is overhauled. It encourages, no... requires kill stealing to get to the top. It's simply a horrible practice that is rampant this weekend. Worse even than the last tournament.

The 20 points for the kill should simply go to the guy who did the most damage to the mech. The assist goes to the fool who took a late shot to his weakened center torso, while the real player did over 200 damage in a brawl just one minute earlier.

Because my ELO is relatively high, I get matched against really good players quite often. When I play in a Kitfox, I have to face the fact that the only way I'm going to get kills is by brawling, sniping and flying like my life depends on it. (It does) This weekend, I've managed to average 1-2 kills a match on victory, with one or two 3-4 kills. I've had several matches where I did 700-900+ damage and lost 5-8 kills to a kill stealer who shadowed me the whole match, obviously on purpose, and joked about it all the way. I've very nearly killed a few of these players who sit in cover, make me tank in a slow, fragile light, then take the credit with one final shot. If these guys even tried to pull their weight, I'd think differently of them, but these guys wait the whole match out so they can clean up.

Kill stealers are pathetic and ruin this game's fun. They are a discredit to the rest of the community, and need to lose any incentive to exploit this game's scoring system.

I had a lot of fun, teams I joined were decent, but yes, they were selfish. I just stopped checking my fire when some one facesmashed for a kill. Was that your weapon arm? Sorry.

But yeah, I found that most teams if you SUGGEST a plan people will come close to it. My favorite phrase was "this team is crap" because some one ran off on their own and assumed we could all read their minds and see their plan. An interesting note, I'm not the best pilot, but I do better in the tourney's because of communication and knowing where to plug up a hole or bail out a teammate, or which targets need to die first (I'm looking at you Stormcrows and Direwolves).

Everyone knows a win is better than a loss for the tourney, so they were trying hard. Of course, I took skirmish mode off halfway through because of this "Lets setup a line and then NEVER MOVE" mentality people had in that mode. At least with assault you can force movement with a base cap.

All in all, a lot of fun, met a the other guys on the leader board and found out that if you're on top, and some one on the enemy team says "Hi, I saw you on the leader board, good luck" it means "I'm going to ignore everyone else and try to kill you, even if I die because of it, so be ready".

The challenge was the standard online gaming challenge: mostly won by farming, luck of the draw teams, specs specific for farming the challenge, and some actual skills.

I opted in to gauge my placement among fellow Atlas pilots in my non-elite, non-weapon moduled DDC, and think I did rather decently: rank 57 (as of this post) with a score of 1708. That's playing my normal, nightly playstyle, with my classic all brawler build.

What bugs me is that while these challenges do require skills, the top rankings are simply reflections of mostly shotgun farming for spectacular matches. The top Atlas pilot has an average of 220+pts/game, I highly doubt these are the common, everyday results for these pilots. These kind of matches require literally every enemy mech damaged (for max assists), at least 4 kills per match, at least 800+ damage, and of course the win. I'm really curious to see how many total games were played by the top 15 of any chassis, and their time played during the weekend. If those stats were included, we could get a better idea of who's actually good vs who's good at farming solo queue players.

Other than that, I enjoyed the chaos brought to the solo queue, never fails to amuse every challenge weekend.

That's what discouraged me so much with my Kitfox. I usually can get all but an assist or two, and 2-3 kills in a good match. When I ran the numbers and realized I needed a minimum 3-4 kill, 9-8 assists, 600 damage game to break 210, I lost heart because it's nearly impossible without luck in this mech.

I've gotten a few 5 kill, 1000+ damage games in the past, but during this tournament, I've only managed a game or two that pushes me over 200. I have come close so many times to a 240+ point game only to watch my carried team throw it away. It's sucking the fun out of MWO.

I can tell you this Bobf,

I would play till I hit the top, then take a break, come back the next day and BAM some one had moved me down. So I'd grind out some more games, cursing under my breath every 600 damage 2 kill match that was a waist of my time.

Then you'd have that magic match (or series, at times). Damage is north of 1000, 3 or better kills. God is smiling on you. Hit the refresh in 15 minutes and you're back in. So exhausted, you'd go have dinner, take your wife shopping, whatever, knowing that inevitably, some one else was playing and climbing as you did.

Even now I'm at work, hitting the refresh button every half hour, obsessing. Knowing I promised my wife Cheesecake Factory tonight. Wondering how sick I'll have to fake being. Knowing that some one else will be at home, watching their score inch closer and closer....
