I've played battletech since it was called battledroids. I only say that to put in perspective my history with this francise.
The three game modes we have serve their purposes however I see a noticable void and despite all the problems you have had rolling out this game I think I have an easy fix to fill this void.
So here goes, trolls be dammed!
New Game Mode: Grand Melee (comes from the clans clearly)
- Create 24 individual drops for each map. Or maybe make it 12 - 15. (Not hard I would think)
- Rules are simple, it's a free for all as in the novels (some will like it and others not)
- In order to deal with the various players trying to cheese out others, like by hiding or waiting to kill steal, we create three awards for players at the end of a match.
1 - Most kills
2- Highest damage
3- Last Mech standing
Make each award exactly the same, also make it to where a single player can even collect on all three ( A rare thing ). Those three things will force players to play well in these matches for the most part. Also there is the chance that out of multiple players three diff players will get the rewards. I've chatted with others on this idea and to date many like it.
It doesn't seem from my end to be a super hard thing to create based on what you have done so far.

Sorry, not trying to troll you but I don't think this is a great idea at this time.

Start off with say a week-long leaderboard contest for Clan mechs. Give the top 31 slots their rank, and hold a Grand Melee for the 32nd slot out of the next 24 ranked players. Then fight 1v1 matches through the bracket to crown a winner. Stream the matches on Twitch, and give the winner a Bloodname title.
They could do a Bloodname Tournament once a month rotating through the Clan factions. Could also run something similar for IS Mechs as Solaris Tournaments (since a full-fledged Solaris mode is a long ways away, if ever).
Tell me the ability to win a Bloodname or be crowned Solaris Champion wouldn't create a ton of interest.

I understand what you're saying, and I support your desire as long as I can opt out. I've played these games before and it always amounts to griefing.
Like I say, more power to you. I won't be in your games with you. Others probably will.

It would be a supremely sup-par option as a result. For FFA to work (and it is a mode that has merit and should be put into the game eventually) a cut down or edited version of the current maps would need to be made and put into their own map pool. As current resources should be directed to the support of CW with extending map pools as well as revisiting the current maps to fix problems with the geometry this is an idea that should sit on the back burner.
It is an idea to explore later but not feasible with the current crunch to meet existing deadlines.

I would LOVE to see some clan specific win conditions (maybe even a targeting mechanic that only allows you to target mechs not already targeted by a friendly until the opfor mech does).

You would definitely have to build arena maps with fairly symmetrical layout, 1-3 floors, etc. It would be very cool

It would be nice at the very least to have the option in private matches to do away with teams and do a free for all match.

Solaris tournament style map setup so that no player is left too vulnerable at the start, 12 players total and see how it goes

If there's anything I still have a lot of trouble liking, it's that it's more or less Quake with MechWarrior gameplay. A big part of MechWarrior is mission objectives, and deathmatch is only so interesting...
On the other hand, if they did it by changing the name to Solaris and adding Solaris elements like spectating, betting and the crowd cheering on a 'Mech kill, then my inner lore nerd would be all like "Aw yis!".

This would have to be part of some special Solaris mode.
