Open Ground is dangerous
Move Cover to Cover like real life infantry.
(Use Suppressive fire to keep the enemy busy while doing so if needed)

This is especially important if you are a heavy/assault being harassed by lights. Locking the lights will make them visible to teammates with LRMs. Once teammates open up on them with LRMs, they will run away. Lights also can't avoid LRMs as easily as they do your direct fire weapons.
As an LRM user, I can tell you that most of the time I don't use them is because teammates are not locking. It is insane to me how many players don't do this. You need to be doing it by reflex. You should always have something locked.

For example, with a 6 ML Jenner you can fire all 6 ML safely at about 64% heat leaving a bit of room for movement and JJ heat. You can fire half of them at around 80%.
I've heard of others using other indicators like number of alarm bells.
This way you don't have to be silly and chainfire all your weapons spreading the damage everywhere. You can even keep hitting override and skirt the 100% heat boundary without penalty consistently.

I see too many players ignore enemies flanking them and going after a target which is retreating; following that target often leads to poor positioning (i.e., running right through the enemy front). If you disengage you can shoot someone else without compromising your position (much). Many assaults play like that.

That is very unClan like. You Ghost Bear really have no respect for Zellbrigen?

My Tips :Always look up when the fight is engage, if you see something flying up. Destroy it, it's a UAV. And it's BAAAD.

Find that Playmode, Playstyle, Mechs and Weapons, what you really ENJOYs, what gives you the most FUN.. And than, just PLAY, PLAY, PLAY!
XP, GXP, CB, Win/Lose, K/D, meant nothing, if you don't like, what you do..

Don't immediately shoot it if you think no other enemies can see you. Target it, follow it, and wait until you get the targeting info, so that you can focus your damage on any weak parts it may have.
If it's a IS Heavy with 2 Gauss or 2 AC20's it has an XL engine and then it's better to target a rear side torso rather than rear center(less armor, dies just the same). They will probably also have less than maximum leg armor.
If it's a Hunchback(4SP excluded), target the rear RT as it often has very little armor and holds most of their weapons.
If it's a light 'mech, they probably have an XL engine and you should aim for either a side torso or the legs.
If the 'mech in question is alone and you're fast enough to both keep up and stay out of its sight, it may be an excellent move to only target it and follow it around as your team mates shower it with LRM's.
I've done this many times and it is both effective and hilarious!
If it stops, you stop. The module 'Seismic Sensor' is very popular, and will easily give you away if your stalking victim has it and is paying attention to their minimap.

there's usually a good reason why it's doing so- like being chased by the enemy- so let the bait by before you start alphaing the treat it brought you.

Don't shoot machine guns at armored components
Srms are great light weight options to ballistics
Don't blame game mechanics, find ways to use them. Looking at you LRM/POPTART/ECM/PPC haters.

Sweep tag over the horizon. Mechs are hard to see at 750 meters but even a glancing tag touch will highlight them. This is the best way to make first contact.
Manage to get around the enemy team? Lock one and hold fire until you are:
1) joined by a wingman
2) found and fired upon
3) have a shot at red components(damaged mech segments)

Don't be afraid to chain fire the lasers. It won't spike the heat like group fire and you'll still be laying out damage. It might give you the chance you need to withdraw and cool down a bit.

Zellbrigen does not apply during a melee, which nearly all matches are, nor against all but the most worthy inner sphere warriors. Besides which, the Wolves are known to have less-than-strict adherence to the principles of zellbrigen in the first place. You sir, are trolling.
