I've been pretty neutral on teh Summoner. I really only have two builds I like and one of them is the stock build with the 4 energy hardpoints (I cant remember which variant that is off the top of my head.) I will on occasions have one of those games where it seems like its doing really well when in reality things are just falling into my lap and I just happen to be in teh right place at the right time. It's not that the mech is anything above average.
That is the main problem with the Summoner. It's 70 tons and it feels like you are piloting a sluggish medium IS mech. In the current drop queues There is absolutely no reason to take a summoner over a Timber-S aside from nostalgia, liking the look of the mech, plain boneheaded stubbornness, or having bought the thing and by God you are going to at least master them. Come CW The same is still more or less true. You are talking about a differnce of 5 tons to take the Timber over the Summoner. The only time I could see a Summoner being taken is if your build is just THAT tight that 5 tons is asking too much and you MUST have JJ's.
In the end that is all it comes down to with the Summoner. It is a Heavy with JJ's. That is its role. and it had its legs cut out from under it by the Timber Wolf-S
