As a dedicated Clanner who is solidly going to play just the Clans during CW, is there any reason to purchase or really even own IS mechs?

I guess there is PUGing in random battles but I could do that in Clan mechs if I really wanted to.

Anyway, what do you all think? Any reason to keep them? Because if not I am thinking about selling all my IS mechs and most of the IS equipment to free up a ton of bays and use the C-bills to buy and outfit Clan mechs.

Honestly this might be a nice question for PGI to answer as well since CW is right around the corner and I am sure more people than just me are curious if our IS (or Clan mechs if we plan to be IS faction players) will have any place in CW or real use in the game if we are aligned with the opposite faction.

Any reason to keep them? Sure, jump in one when you want hard mode :P

I'm not kidding.

Unless you plan on nearly exclusively playing CW, I don't see why you wouldn't keep them. I'm going to be playing clan, and I just keep buying more and more IS mechs, despite having both packs owned, complete with the Irate Canines.

Well part of it is, I need 150 million C-bills by the end of Dec just to get the Clan mechs I want and with the new rewards, don't really want to try to grind it out. Selling all my IS mech gives me the C-bills I need.

Judging by the "balance" that will be added by the quirks.... no.

The more important question is; is there any valid reason to get rid of them?

If there was a good reason to sell then this would be it. If you don't want the grind i wouldn't blame you.

And besides, any mech you sell can always be re-brought in the future

I sold a fair share of my IS mechs. I only kept the ones I'm stupidly attached to (my Awesome) and the ones that would have stood a chance against clan mechs had PGI not nerfed them into the dirt (Victors and Highlanders).

I asked this a while back too, with no real answers, I would love the have the new IS pack, but I don't want to get it, and never be able to play it.

but like if your faction was mercenary ... would IS or Clan even matter there to be able to play both.

Is CW really right around the corner? How are tonnage limits going to work with only wave one released for c-bills?

I don't see the Clan mech roster being complete enough until spring, so you might as well use superior IS mechs to grind more c-bills until then.

The only reason to keep them is if you intend to play them. If you are sure you'll never play IS again then selling them won't hurt anything.

In the end it really is up to you, I am actually going to buy a few IS mechs I decided, mostly since I have been saddled with two, due to my support of MWO, so why not keep a couple?

Going by the time frame you are looking at, my guess is you are looking to buy Timber Wolves or Mad Dogs.

Unless you can't afford the hanger space why get rid of them?

This game changes so much that I've kept all mine, who knows where the game will go?

Mech chassis = new Mech(locust);
if (chassis.getChassis() != locust)
{
	  chassis.sell();
}
else
{
    System.out.println("Weeeeeeeeee!");
}

I could never do that to my WubShee...

As for the OP, no real reason to sell mechs unless you need the mechbays.

Mech chassis = new Mech(locust);
Mech chassis2 = new Mech(banshee);

if ((chassis.getChassis() != locust) && (chassis2.getChassis() != banshee)).
{
	  chassis.sell();
}
else
{
	System.out.println("Weeeeeeeeee!");
}

Happy?

At this point, with the rewards system so borked and nobody playing much of anything but narc/tag/lrms, I'm not sure there's any reason to keep any mechs at all.

if you enjoy playing them i would keep them. if you dont see yourself ever playing them then fine go ahead, but its going to cost you alot if you ever want to repurchase them.

i would just buy the clan mechs you want from packs, they are a decent value when you consider the cost of clan mechs. (this coming from someone who has purchased novas, direwolves, and now stormcrows with cbills. its been very expensive).

getting prime variants of mechs youll play anyway with premium time to boot is a good value to me anyway.
