Hey with CW eventually around the corner I have been debating which faction/clan to join. Besides that website everyone links what would be a good book or series of books to get more lore on the factions and clans and stuff. I never heard of mechwarrior before 2013 so I dont know where to start.

The Blood of Kerensky Trilogy is an excellent start. Granted, it shows the Wolves and the Fed Com as chief protagonists, but you will get to know about the whole deal between the Inner Sphere and the Clans.

IMO, the whole novel series do not do any justice to the Free Worlds League (Marik). Hell, even the newbie nation of FRR gets more face time than the FWL, aside from the whole Knights of the Inner Sphere thing. :(

legend of the jade phoenix series also. at least from a clanners perspective. Less of the IS "whiney vagina" dribble.
most novels are good reads though

But yeah, pretty much what El said. Most if not all of the books give timeline dates so any of the ones around 3050 would be most relevant to MWO.

The ones before the Blood of Kerensky Trilogy are in the "past" of our timeline but would give you more information on the hierarchy of the Inner Sphere factions and how they all interact.
