You all realize the crotch is generally CT right....

What i'm saying is, shoot it in the ****.

unless the mehc has a giant b**er, how do you hit that ct form the side?

Phract is an amazing mech in terms of hiding the CT very well.

Torso twisting only twists the upper torso, the crotch area is still considered front CT.

that does not care at all, because I can also align my legs in the right position before ambusing you. I don't have to run straight at you, I can also do that in a 90degree angle, which allows me to hide CT with some mechs, even at the balls.
Others, like dragon or Nova, will not be able to do this becuase you can still hit their CT at the upper torso.

It's literally a non issue unless you're super compulsive and can't stop shooting that side torso cause you just reeeeeally want to. The worst part is that it makes real world sense for the ST to reduce CT damage, it'd make more sense if you had to actually hit the CT through the ST to deal damage on top of that, none of that shoulder shooting for CT kills crap.

As politely as I can put this, OP is making an issue out of a non issue. Clans get 1 ST shield, IS gets 0-2, seems fair. Hell I don't run Clan mechs because they're really damn restricting given the engine and equipment locks on them.

I guess the game must be pretty balanced if OP wants to have a go at something that's been here since before we knew what a raven looked like.

Dammit. No. It wouldn't make the clan mechs better. But it wouldn't change the status quo. Clan mechs would still be X amount better. X never changed.

So what's the advantage to a standard engine then? Why not just take an XL and pack more guns. Since the damage transfer mechanic means you just doubled the size of the CT on a ST blowout.

If clan mechs are 50% more effective than IS mechs, and you introduce a blanket nerf to ALL mechs including standard engine IS mechs. Guess what, clan mechs are still 50% more effective.

What about that is unclear?

Is anyone else having difficulty understanding this?

It's actually worse than what you are saying. A blanket nerf would actually favor clan mechs.

Lets take the example of 20 for IS and 30 For clan mechs. (These numbers don't correlate to in game numbers but this is just for an example.) The 30 Clan mech is 50% better than the IS mechs of 20. Lets hack 10 off of both for our blanket nerf. So now you end up with 10 for IS and 20 for Clans. Now the clan mech is 100% better than the IS mech. I understand that this is simplifying the situation, but even a small blanket nerf would favor the bigger number.

That's what I've been harping on. I'm glad someone understands the brevity of this idea.
