I like the new patch and this is not complaining. Prior to patch I didn't getted cored in my CT from one pass by a heavy mech with lasers. Now I have twice since patch out of 5 deaths. (not a lot of matches so far, granted). Any other centurions experiencing instant laser death out there? I'm curious if this is just me. I was in a Yen-Lo-Wang. It's usually pretty easy to spread the damage.

Thanks.

I'm a regular Wanger myself along with the other Cent chassis. I just got home from night shift so I'll let you know how things pan out for me.

I played a bit of CN9-AH and some CN9-A, didn't notice anything unusual except for the ungodly amount of DPS the AH cranks out now.

The Weak spot of a Cent be its Legs but with the Lasers having shorter Beam Durations they do more damage and enough my core you - 50 to 55 Front Armor is not that much...

I got almost instantly legged but not cored yet - you can not put enough armor on a Mediums Leg to withstand Alphas of 60+ damage.

The cooldown buffs on many weapons mean we're spending more time facing the enemy.

The big advantage of the Centurion has been the left arm as a shield, but if you put in high rate of fire weapons that advantage tends to be lost.

The Centurion still has the reputation as the zombie mech, but the hit boxes were changed a while back. I don't think it is as good in that role as people believe it is anymore.

Still, I did re-purchase the Centurion 9D, but that was so I could get a Centurion with ballistic bonuses. I don't plan to use the LB-10x, but the generic 20% bonuses for any of the other ballistic weapons is still really good.

My build is an AC-10, medium lasers, and twin SRM-4's.

I went with the load out that provided the most bonuses, and they made a good call with the quirks.

All Inner Sphere mechs chassis got damage buffs so all mechs are taking more damage in most matches, if not all.

The topic title is to be expected really, although insta isnt the right word.

It's not just Cents, it's all mechs. There's more PPFLD flying about than ever before and the TTK is lower than it's ever been.

I thought I would enjoy the Quirkening but I'm not. I'm sure many are enjoying how things are now but personally it's a total disaster for me and my view of the game.

I hear you. Although the balance between the Clans and Inner Sphere seems close or even spot on at the moment, IS running XL's are even more fragile. This really stands out now, LOL like it didnt before.

And yes match time may have been shortened by a couple minutes even.

It will be interesting where they go with adressing that. Looking back, making the Clan mechs Over Powered seemed to have a good reason. These quirks give the IS mech by mech, weapon by weapon characteristics and the Clan Omni mechs the versatility for which they are famous.

I just think the amount of boosting is too high, Scales of 1.5/3% instead of 2.5/5% might be more appropriate but as usual with PGI it's 3 steps one way 2 steps back.

And I just went from yellow CT armour to losing a medium laser from a single alpha by a poptarting Highlander.

The quirks are are a good idea but just given too high boosts which has caused the meta to regress several months to a state we wanted desperately to get away from.

SRMs were already quite beastly too. With the reasonably acceptable hit detection we have and the decreased cooldown for some mechs, is 2.0 damage looking too high for them now?

Haven't noticed that in my quirk-aligned D. Lost left arm and then XL LT. But by then, by gods, I have spent all the ammo, D is the LBX-nightmare now =D

Well, we went from only Clan mechs being able to land heavy hurt on you to most of the mechs being able to strip armor from shoulder of heavy or less in one good hit. Mechs rarely fall apart around you - they just go poof in one or two hits.

How do you build an LB-X/SRM -D?

So far in my experience, you don't. Take two medium lasers, your LB-10-X, and as much ammo for the LB as you can carry. It fires so fast that you need as much as you can get.

I would probably move the ammo out of the shield arm, but yeah that's similar to what I have been running.

Which is unfortunate, since the motif they had going on was for IS to be the ones poking, jump sniping, and etc. whereas Clans were the ones who wanted more face time.

I haven't tried my config yet, but I'd switch the pulses to medium lasers and upgrade the engine to the XL300.

The D is the fast Cent, guys. ;) Or, the XL275 weighs the same as the XL280, so might as well use that.
