The "new" Grid Iron?

HBK-GI - Grid Iron
Additional Armor (RT) +18
Additional Structure (RT) +12
Medium Pulse Range +12.5%
Energy Weapon Range +12.5%
Medium Pulse Heat Generation -12.5%
Energy Weapon Heat Generation -12.5%
UAC/5 Cooldown +12.5%
Ballistic Weapon Cooldown +12.5%
UAC/5 Velocity +12.5%%
Ballistic Weapon Velocity +12.5%
Ballistic Weapon Range +15%
Torso Yaw Speed +37.5%
Torso Pitch Speed +10%
I initially built mine to take advantage of all the quirks but its been feeling underwhelming. Keep in mind pre-patch I was running either a standard AC20 build or a slower Gauss build. Next on my list of builds is something a bit more simple. The UAC5 rate of fire can be really awesome but I don't feel like I've put it to good use yet.
So what are your doing wiht your Grid Iron?

My first build was very similar to yours - 3x ML, UAC5, SRM6. It was fun, but felt underwhelming. I then switched to 3x ML, 2x UAC5 & STD200. That one actually got me kills and nice damage. When you have two of those, the jamming is no longer such a big deal as you'll very rarely have both guns jam at the same time, and you can keep pouring hot lead on the enemy. Now with the added quirks it should be even more brutal. Unfortunately there's no way to fit in MPLs AND 2x UAC5

I still wish they'd have given a more serious gauss-centered quirk to the Grid Iron and left the G & H be the AC carriers.

Standard 225 is 80kph after ST.

I mean, the gauss rifle is a ballistic so it gets the 12.5% buffs to velocity, range, and cooldown. That means the cooldown goes from 4 seconds to 3.5 seconds, the velocity goes from 2000mp/s to 2250mp/s, and the range goes from 660 / 1980 meters to
742.5 / 2227.5 meters. That makes the Grid Iron a nice support sniper at long to very long ranges (be a beast on alpine) since those stat changes accentuate the gauss at the extremes of engagable ranges.
If I was to buy one I'd try this build first, I suppose.
EDIT: In the above build I'd probably put the srm ammo in the legs not snuggled up to my XL engine

If I tried anything else, it would be 2UAC but that is a one trick pony that I probably wouldnt care for. If you realize its mostly just a support mech, that will never give you great games on a regular basis, then I think its fun. If you need to have strong consistent games all the time, I just dont think its a mech, no matter what build, that can do that.

In the end, I think this will be the build that ends up sticking. Grid Iron
So the main offensive punch is the trio of pulse lasers which you supplement with the LB10X when heat is too high or when armor sections are opened up. I've got the cooldown modules for both weapons meaning the LB fires every 1.8 seconds and the lasers every 2.5 seconds.
It is possible to downgrade the engine to a 240 and to trade the LB10 for an AC10 but since the 4H is already my dedicated AC10 specialist I wanted to do something different with the GI.

2) completely stripped arms and left torso.
3) 2x uac5, 1 m pulse in the head.
4) As much ammo as I could stuff in the armored areas.
Not really my thing, but the 2 ultras with the quirks in the HBK's amazing ballistic mount is pretty impressive.
(way to clicky for me, the uac mechanic at this fire rate is ridiculous)
Obviously not versatile. Spend way more time in my 4G(F). =)

True, its not an ideal peekaboo mech in this configuration. With a few quick changes I can swap in a Gauss rifle that's fulfills that role much better. This one will be more of a mop-up brawler.

I decided to go with 2 uac5 and a mplas. The mech is really slow. Almost direwhale slow but the firepower makes up for it. Piloting it I don't feel like I ever have to back down from a fight. You can even stand your ground against a direwolf and know that even though you probably lose the upcoming exchange you will hurt it bad. You can do that in many medium mechs.
The two uac5's fire pretty much as fast as you pull the trigger and that is more than most mechs can handle.

However Shadowhawk can do it better, with 2x UAC5, additional weapons, a 250 engine and jumpjets

Worked out rather well for me while working again on Hunchbacks this weekend for the challenge. Though SP and G were my best performers. But P and GI were mighty close good to see new quirks bringing IS back online with Clan had a heck of a fun time with my IS mech over weekend quirks really helped alot.
