FS9-A

So I'm really loving the FS in smurfy so far. Most know I'm an energy boater and love my lasers. This is my first attempt at the FS but 6MLs and 50% heat efficiency as well as moving 127/kph after speed tweak? yummy!!!!

FS9-A

I'm going to use this as a place to post different builds for this fun little mech. Please feel free to comment, give up your builds, etc. It's nice to have a heavier light mech to compete with the jenner.

XL255 weighs the same as XL250, FWIW. Personally, XL280 is as low as I'd even ponder, but assuming XL295 in all of mine.

I'd like to see your builds

I'm not a speed demon so I cna usually make do with slower speeds. I do like the idea of an AC10 LL FS though that I'm toying with. This could become my favorite light (well until Javelins get here)

I haven't spent much time on them yet, except Ember and that one builds itself. I will...and I AM a speed demon. I hate going less than max in a light.

They already have the variants up on Sarna!?

Now I just need to find a paycheck of some sort so that I can buy Ember when he goes on sale.

Yep. All 5 on Smurfy (can actually see in-game, but not buy).

So any impressions yet?

The hard points look pretty good on this little SOB.

I'd like a nerf of max engines down to 260 or so. This thing seems... out of line. Highest firepower in a light... and great speed? And jumpjets? No, that doesn't sound right to me. This is a Hunchback 4P in disguise.

Im going to agree with terciel on this one why do you have such a small engine in that mech? You could ferro up ditch a few DHS, put one in the larger engine and get that much more useful speed. Either way this mech looks like it easily beats out the jenner, well see how hitboxes fair, and size.

Not to mention if ou like boating energy why not try this guy out (pretty much why they have chain fire)
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e324449bb753d3d
with it mastered it would be at 35% heat efficiency, so not terrible. One hell of a suprise alpha at 150KPH

In 12 mans there may be an absolute minimum speed for lights of ~150, but in PuGland it is much much more relaxed.

For about the same reason I am more wary of charging an Awesome than a Victor - I tend to be much more worried about the slower lights than the faster ones.

Yea I've noticed from personal experience that outside of 12mans anything over 100/kph is generally enough to get the job done. I'm also toying around with one of the variants to build an urbie mech. Slow as crap but lots of firepower for the tonnage. Strictly a support mech designed to make lights think twice before moving in on your LRM boats. The ballistic hardpoint in the torso is just too tempting not too :P

Yeah, I'm giving them a hard look, too. I've been working my way down in tonnage, didn't think I'd go lower than 45... no savvy game strategy; I just think the lights look dumb, except the Commando, which looks cool but just doesn't have the bite, or the jump jets. But this Firestarter... lots of possibilities in this nasty looking little brat.

Anyone know when the standard variants go on sale for CBills? I'd pay for the Ember, but again no savvy game logic: just want to put some good camo skins on 'em.

One more question:
There was talk of an ECM variant, but I'm looking at Smurfy's and I don't see one. So I'm guessing it was just talk, after all?

The ECM variant pops on and off of Sarna, I don't know whether there is debate about it or whether someone is just trolling.

I would highly doubt we see it though - for about the same reason they took ECM off the Jenner.
On the other hand I would think we are unlikely to see the Missile hardpoint variants so it may yet come.....

Edit: meant sarna, not smurfy

I'd take the K over the A for 6 MLas in the arms for better firing solutions. I would also take the S over the A for dual AMS at the expense of one energy hardpoint.

Man, the Jenner F going to drop off the map

Really? I haven't seen that. What's the designation?

That seems a little odd, too, since Smurfy bases his site off of the actual game files.

according to the skill trees, the FS9-S1, i.e. the ECM variant, won't be in game. the A, H, K and S variants are what's on the list.

I've played a few matches with the Ember and after a half dozen removed the Flamers for Medium Lasers, needed a bit of range.! :D

I've also made some builds in Smurphy's, the variants are similar. No ECM. :P

FS9-A
FS9-H
FS9-K
FS9-S
FS9-E

These are the builds I've come up with so far. Some tweaking to be had I'm sure. Keep in mind I like to make all variants unique.

The Ember is a solid mech, I'm looking forward to the standard variants in 2 weeks! :(
