ECM just got a major nerf in the form of BAP coverage.

So expect the LRM boats to have a field day with this fact.

Sure it can use some tuning to bring it in, but I think a re-look at just HOW EASY it is to get those indirect locks are in order.

I feel there is plenty of tuning that can be done just to the interactions of the indirect fire mechanics without getting rid of the entire lockon system.

They upped the fire rate for a lot of mechs. For instance, BLR-1S gets +20 ROF with LRM15s.

PGI seems to think that reducing the damage of LRMs will reduce the number used. In fact, the inverse is true: People now carry more to make up the difference.

PGI: 0
Human Nature: 1

That doesn't make any sense at all. People don't carry more of something when it gets a damage Nerf. If they could have carried more of it in the first place, they would have.

I've tried to raise support to change indirect locks with two separate threads, one including tons of diagrams and fully thought out bonuses for suggested changes.

Both threads eventually got bombarded by people claiming LRMs aren't OP and I should feel bad for suggesting changes for LRMs at all.

Sometimes, you just can't win against people who crave cheesy mechanics and uninteresting gameplay.

Links LRMs to Ghost Heat to avoid mass LRM boating.

Reduces missile heat and cooldown on mechs specifically meant to boat LRMs.

Well, depends on the Pilot, if you had a Mech with a mixed armament you could decide to strengthen your LRM and lessen the direct fire bcs you feel that the best way for your playstyle.
If you have already a specialized boat you have a slight nerf but lets be honest - its made up by the quirks on the LRM Mechs.
The Hunchback with ~50% LRM10 Cooldown reduction is hilarious and can still erquip 6 ML.

And that pilot would have already done that. He wouldn't decide to do it because of a Nerf to the weapon he already prefers.

If weapon X is your perfered weapon, and you can run 10 effectively, you run 10 of them. You don't run 5 and wait for a damage Nerf then decide to run 10 of them.

LRMs were crazy OP in Pub games and totally useless (and still are) in comp play.

They received 3 "balances" this patch.

AMS Ammo to 2K on IS
BAP to 360
Damage from 1.1 to 1.0

I didn't see any difference unless within 360 meters of an ecm shielded target, that's 180 meters from worthless for IS LRMs so no big deal. It's more of a deal for mech lances sneaking across the map which is what the BAP change was actually for. LRM effect is not a big deal since most LRM mechs carry TAG.

This is all an evil conspiracy from PGI to punish players who don't use AMS.

Remember, AMS X 12 = You still die, too bad... right? Right.

Wait...

Wrong.

No reason to carry AMS when I rarely die to LRMs. If I was guaranteed that the other 11 mechs were carrying AMS, I'd carry it but I'm not.

See, this is one reason why pugs cry about lack of LRM counterplay. Everyone only thinks about himself, not the team. Pug mentality is the chief issue in this LRM story, rather than the weapon itself.

I rarely die to LRMs as well, but I gladly jump onto my STK-5S in AMS Awareness Thursdays, even if I don't get C-Bill reward for AMS coverage. Now with the AMS ammo buff, I am equipping it on all my mechs--except certain Clan mechs with hardpoints I cannot afford to lose.

That BAP change is huge. Far, far from wasted tonnage now....and I really am in love with LRMs (especially on clan mechs).

Don't forget they also link all large lasers for ghost heat to prevent "boating", and then release weapon modules that encourage boating of a single type of weapon.

Smite does. Damnable Neith.

I've not played LoL in a long time but I could have swore they had an archer that could shoot across the map as well with a missile that isnt interrupted by Terrain.

Add that to MWO and you will know what real screaming is all about.

EDIT: Hell as I recall there were several ways in LOL to bypass terrain blocks. Pulls or bombs you could hit people through a treeline with.
