You mean the smoke and or steam that comes off an overheating mech? I have never noticed that affecting my FPS and I'm only running a mid range rig. Besides, it's an important visual cue - you see the steam and you know he's close to overheating and you can push a bit harder than you would if he wasn't.

This only ever affects me on HPG Manifold, and its barely noticeable.

Nah it drops frames like crazy, though if your machines are running on lower settings you probably wont notice.

This makes my fps drop too.

It's annoying and gets me killed sometimes. Is there a setting to turn it off?

I run a fairly medium-specced rig and when I first built it, I cranked settings to max and whenever my mech started steaming up from heat, it ravaged my FPS to the point where it was affecting my gameplay. I dropped settings to medium and now it doesn't cause any performance issues like it did on max.

OP: What are your specs and what settings are you running at?

It is because your flash settings run on hardware acceleration. Either that or you need to update your GPU drivers.

It is a non-issue if you bother to read up on it...several threads about fixes for it on reddit.

A big question is, are you using DX11?

The Steam caused my FPS to tank into single digits when I ran particles at max, but turning particles to low has "resolved" the issue.

One notable time I was running hot in my Misery on HPG and my FPS tanked to about 5-10. It didn't stop me from securing 4 kills in quick succession. It was a pretty epic slideshow of destruction, wonder if I recorded it...

Turn particles in the options to very high, shoot your weapons until your mech is very hot and then walk backwards.
It really needs to be looked at. I play with everything on high except particles. It's unplayable on anything above medium imho which is a real shame, things look much nicer with particles turned up.

Just think of it as the mental effects from it being so hot inside your cockpit... :D

I have it on Dx11, slows me down to 30 fps... is it any better on dx9?
