Prior to the quirk pass I feared facing down a Ryoken, MAD CAT, Masakari or Daishi. To be caught in one of those three 'Mechs cross-hairs meant certain doom.

I was too slow to stay out of the Daishi and Masakari firing arcs. I was too slow to run away from a MAD CAT, or Ryoken if the battle turned south. I'll admit, many times it was piloting error that wrought that situation on me, but I often found speed to be the key cause of my early demise, I was simply too slow with a STD engine, but too fearful to run an XL.

Enter the quirks, RT/LT bonus structure, quirks already setup for the weapon configuration I settled on. For my first few matches I noticed my side torso were surviving, so I decided to once again try out an XL engine. Low and behold to my delight I have yet to have an XL related death, I am still able to spread the love (damage) around the 'Mech when facing more deadly targets but not lose a side torso the instant I lose the armor. Coupled with the BAP change I removed an SRM for an LRM10-Art. With BAPs new-found effectiveness, combined with full range of weapons most effective from 180-300m I am able to get in and deal a fair bit more punishment each match. With the LL boost I do not need to debate between ER's or normal LL's I can now poke 'Mechs out to 1000m, and with the added speed afforded by the saved tonage of the XL, I can more safely move in and out of combat.

I've even managed to brawl the 'Mechs I've been having trouble with in submission. (Though that could just as easily be me getting lucky and finding worse pilots then I)

Basically what I am trying to say is I am happy with the quirks thus far, I am mainly playing one 'Mech for the time as I build my C-bills back up before the resistance pack hits so I can convert all the 'Mechs to DHS.

Ditch the arm Laser, put in more DHS and go full Ice Zombie mode as a chunky SHD-2K. :)

YOU get an Alpha. And YOU get an Alpha. And YOU get an Alpha. Alphas for everyone!

arm laser gives you the ability to fight lights better.

For Simplicity and to keep cost down, I was probably going to go with this: TDR-5S

Though it only uses about half the quirks, but I just feel the weapons synergy is better overall.

Or to stay on the cheap and maximize quirks: TDR-5S

I think the one I built is 3 LL in the torso for convergence and a ML in the arm :)

The 'S' key is your friend. Line up those torso weapons with Light legs :)

Yeah the T-bolts got pretty much perfect Quirks and are much improved. Actually alot of them did and because of this, I finally have reason to play my IS mechs again (well some of them, my Heavy Metal still sucks mostly because it can't jump worth a crap still).

I've been doing quite well with this arrangement pre quirk. Interested to see if it still performs after the changes.

I would drop the AMS for maybe another heatsink or something else more useful. SRM 2 perhaps.

Looks like a solid build, but doesn't exploit the quirks to the fullest.

If you're really big on the AC5s (which I suspect you are) you may want to drop the LL for 4 ML plus a DHS and rely on the AC5 for range.

If you want to go quirk meta, those 2 AC5 = 3LL + 2 MG as a plug and play swap plus you get room to make 2 tons of AC5 ammo into AMS+AMS ammo or 2 more DHS.

Im so damn happy i got the 5S weeks ago, it underperformed for me. Now with the quirks, it can contend alot more!

I tried 3 LL and 2 SRM6, mainly so I don't have to bother with chain fire (torso lasers one button, arm laser on the other).

I am sure 4 LL is also good.

I would have put another double heat sink on except I only had 2 crit slots left for 2 tons (endo steel/DHS/XL takes up some serious space).

Also, mounting a single SRM2 is about the single most useless thing you can do with free space. Having 1 ams and 0.3 tons of unused tonnage (due to no more crit space) is 100000000 times more useful.
