Not trying to complain, just make a potential issue known.

I think PGI needs to change the hit box on the PPC to a point like lasers instead of a large bitmap. It a lot harder to use then lasers at lots of angles because the big orb gets in the way and hits the ground, wall , or ramp in the way.

I feel ballistics are a bit better. Seems as though PPC hitreg should be similar to ballistics minus trajectory. Perhaps the particle size or even shape they are using is throwing it off?
Lot of things going on for the devs right now, I can't hold my breath for this one unfortunately

I think it's also an issue for srm packs. I've shot at a moving target, granted a small hit box light mechs, a pre-calculated volleys that should have hit them and they just passed through them. The physics are way off. As far as PPCs shooting right through mechs without doing damage--I've seen that too when spectating. My ping is around 70 with 50-60fps so there shouldn't be problem in that department. I think there is an error of calculation in physics part of the engine. It's like shooting in a 3D world but the enemy is 2D flat sheet of paper to you as long as they are moving; as soon as they stop moving we are are back to normal. I just don't think small hit boxes can explain this behavior fully.

examples:
1. my Jester (2 LL, 4 ML) against a Jenner: jenner sucks 5 alphas then runs away with a yellow, non cored CT
2. my Jester against an Ice Ferret: took me about 8 alphas and a few chainfired lasers until his right torso got yellow cored, he killed me with his SRMs...
3. my Centurion9-AH with an AC20 and 3 SRM2 against a Vulture who targeted someone far away shooting LRMs on that target, he didnt even turned around.. well... one alpha after another in his BACK.. then he started to run away from me, always presenting his back and i kept following him permanently shooting his back until a DDC Atlas appeared and almost oneshotted my CT ;) i've got 31 AC20 rounds and after this there were only 12 left and this Vulture survived it to the end of the game.. i ONLY shot his back, never been in front of him...
4. my Victor with a Gauss and ER-PPC against a firestarter: he was standing, watching porn or something else when i sneaked upon him, hitting his back twice with both weapons, then he starts circling me. Took me 12 Gauss rounds and almost the same ER-PPC shots to get his armor orange, then his teammates showed up and killed me... Even in a brawl/close combat against lights... i'm good with the gauss and i hit with it almost every time, even while circled by someone...
all that tells me that something really weird is going on with the hitreg and its not only the PPC right now. PPC hitreg was ****** up before (not like its right now but it was)...
my ping is 120 to 135.. this shouldnt be a problem. i dont have any connection issues nor do i have lag spikes or dramatical ping drops.
i've also watched it yesterday at the testing grounds at forest colony shooting the commando.. i took alot of shots to bring him down with my lasers and after that with another mech and AC and PPC fire... i targeted him, left the mouse where it was and just hit my keyboard buttons to shoot.. yeah.. it took alot shots and those where also split.. sometimes i hit his arm, then his torso, then his CT.... all that while not moving the target cursor..

I would hit mechs, watch the indicator go red, and see 0 damage register. It was really, really bad.

hahaha that made me laugh..
yeah i know how it feels.. sometimes i feel really ashamed when i shoot and shoot and shoot and die because nothing happened to the enemy and then i see my matchdamage and i'm below 100 :/
yesterday i had a match where my whole team was below 100dmg and like 50% of it where below 50 damage...
now it's not only the "noobs" who can't aim or something like that, no... now there's also hitregistration turning everybody
into a "noob" hahahahha

I am seeing that hitreg in general not working very well right now.
Up until the patch I was pretty good at estimating my damage, now I am left scratching my head when the numbers coming back are 1/2 of what they should be.
