Yea, sorry man. Gambling and video games... you may "compete" in a "competition" that involves them but no sir.

They simply are not in the same class as someone who trains (shooting, b-ball, kung-fu, etc) for years of their life to master a skill. You literally play enough of 1 game for enough months to be really good at it, and can be "competitive". I can compete the world series of Rock Paper Scissors too. You can toss on a visor and some shades, read up on poker and enter a top level tourney, if you have the time/money to spend playing poker. If the cards are good, you'll be the champ! (And rich :P)

But let's not derail the thread. I think comp gaming (gambling included) is a joke, and you think w/e you want. Agree to disagree sir. Kudos on the shooting BTW. I always thought that was a cool thing to know how to do.

I can agree to disagree. you do raise valid points. It is at the end of the day, something I do to fill the time between work and sleep.

Yea, it'll block the "s word", lol

Sorry man, but you can't put any comp video games in the same class as any those activities

It's a similar mindset. His point isn't about putting them in the same class. The whole argument about whether "esports" is "sports" is so dumb and arbitrary anyways so I'm not even going to touch that.

I'd say it's in the same class as professional chess and poker though. As long as there is a competition to win at something it can be competitive.

Yep I can agree with that.

Most excellent! *handshake* I should change my wording though. I don't think its a joke.... I have respect for anyone who can be the best at what they do.

That said, I respect professional chess and poker players as much if not more so than some professional physical sports.

Whether you can just "play for 1 month and become competitive" depends on how many people are invested in being competitive at the subject in question and the skill caps/floors involved. This game, sure, it's actually relatively easy to get good since there aren't that many people. Becoming a pro chess player requires a lot more work than just playing chess a lot for a month.

Not sure what you're trying to say with this sentence, since your fun is also not better than his fun?

Nope, mine isnt. But I also do not come to the forum attacking his style of play and claiming its ruining my game.

So, it's upsetting that people want to use the most effective build they can in order to win? I don't like getting hit with the dual guass/ppc combo either, but it makes me respect the dire wolf. It's supposed to be a feared mech. Don't stand in front of it.

From sarna.net:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Dire_Wolf

Its speed and armor protection matches that of an Atlas, but it has superior potential firepower with fifty and a half tons of free pod space for weapons and equipment. It is these traits which saw the 'Mech christened Daishi (Japanese for "Great Death") by the criminal underbelly of the Draconis Combine, a name that would be proven grimly accurate time and time again

... How often do you see people playing Dire Wolves who actually use the table-top loadouts?

The problem isn't how many guns it can carry, the 'problem' is that people will always find a way to cheese around the rules.

If you're going to start a thread about an acronym, you may want to consider explaining what it means.

We're not all hip to the latest MWO / Call of Duty lingo, you dig?

I don't know how nobody else caught this....

It took me a day of forum surfing to figure out what PPFLD meant when I first saw the term.

For those reading here: it stands for "Pin Point Front-Loaded Damage".

Someone really oughta stick that on urbandictionary.com, or something. Some kinda reference for people that might not know yet.
