I know a lot of people would rather not have them back in or were not around when we had them in the game. People took advantage of them and the smallest mech could easily run into any other mech and knock the other mech down. Then a bunch of mechs would just rip into the downed mech and kill it before it could get back up.

Let me make it clear that I AM NOT ASKING FOR THIS back in the game.

I'm asking for a balanced knock down mechanic to be added back into the game.

If mechs run into each other, speed and tonnage should be taken into account.

If a 25 ton mech doing 120+ KPH smashes into a 100 ton mech doing 46 KPH, then apply damage accordingly. If two lights smash into one another at roughly the same speed, the outcome should be more balanced and besides damage, both mechs should fall over/get thrown. If a medium mech is standing there and an assault rushes him at any speed and hit him, that medium should not only fall over but take some nice damage.

I want to see heavies and Assaults with JJs actually be able to really mess someone up by way of DFA (death from above).

Mechs like Chargers and Dragons were known in lore for charging other mechs.

No light mech at any speed should be able to run into an Assault and always knock it down but if a fully armored 25 to 35 ton light hits an Atlas' leg at the speeds most lights can get to, there should be a relitivly good chance that while the light may not get back up from the collision, that Atlas could very well lose a leg lol.

If we can't get true hand to hand combat, we should at least get this back.

This would help to bring the brawling game back into its own and stop most games from being ranged shoot fests where everyone hides behind cover till the last few minutes.

THe closest thing to an ETA that we have is: After community Warfare.

There was actually a poll like 3/4 year ago or so where the community was asked whether we would prefer collisions /knockdown +Polish fiirst or CW... CW won by a landslide IIRC.

Either way, when /if they come back, it most certainly will not be the way it was, and that`s a good thing.

Collisions are horrible in this game. Nothing worse than when another 'mech touches you and then you teleport 10m ******* up the shot you had just lined up.

They have to manage it so coming close to another mech doesn't result in massive rubber banding before this can even seriously be considered.

The day they fix rubber banding, is the day you can ask this question.

What rubber banding? I haven't seen any rubber banding in months.

Its still there, the fundamental problem hasnt been fixed, but the lower player counts, and server move have covered it up. Its still there. I experience it whenever my wifi gets overloaded on weekends. I see lights rubber band occasionally. And I saw Vassagos stormcrow rubber band through a wall a week ago.

If they fix that. They can do knockdowns. Its why they took them out.

Stunlocking Paul I think for 10 minutes in a match while his machine took a lag ****.

Ever run a light past a big mech? Or had a laggy light run past you? It's not every time, but it can be awful.

Yes. In one billion years. Most, or many, folk realised they were detrimental to gameplay. A pivotal moment is preserved forever on YouTube, if you can be bothered to look it up. Try kd + paul + mwo goons. Or something along those lines.

Basically it's in the same bin as melee; deemed unworthy of engineering/balance effort, IIUC.

Yeah rubber banding is still in the game and as some have said, it mostly happens when te weekend events are in and more people are on playing. It's still no where near as bad as it used to be. I'm sure knockdown a will indeed come back and not be what we had before. I guess I had missed the poll on if we wanted it back over a polished CW.

Regardless, I do want a knock down system back in the game. Knock downs and close combat and death from above has always been a part if BT/MW.

Not really. It's hard to do right, so is melee. They're a small outfit, they have to invest effort wisely, where it's likely to show ROI. Rather than on random stuff purists want, "cos that's how it worked in TT".

I'm all for a quality first person shooter with BT quirks, so I'ma happy bunny, for the most part.

Even a collision sound when hitting things would be nice. I'm waiting for them to add inverse kinetics back to the feet. They have ragdoll effects for mech death, I don't see why they cant make the mech feet align to the terrain even if its just for client-side cosmetic purposes.

Lag is worse for me at the weekend. Maybe just a local anomaly, maybe related to server capacity. I'm sure servers are monitored closely since the switch over, so likely a problem with over loaded infra structure at my (our?) end.

I'd say it would help encourage ranged shoot fests more than anything else. The game back when there were collisions was very different, with stuff like Light mechs being impossible to hit.
