So it has been a week, I've been breaking out my Phoenix Locusts and trying them out with the quirks.

They're better, they really are.

But are they faster, glassier, jumpjet-less Jenners yet?

I wouldn't compare them to jenner's, but rather commandos. Their tonnage gap is huge, it's like comparing a jenner to a hunchback.

though a jenner can hold its own against a hunchback.. and in the right hands it would win most skirmishes

jenner is 100% better but at least a locust can now fight without getting legged in seconds.

But that is the point of the quirks.

I've taken apart Jenners in my Locust... ...might be like comparing a 'Jenner to a Hunchback' but no reason why in the right hands that Jenner can't smash that Hunchback.

I've solo'd a Cataphract in my Phoenix Locust. Though I do worry about the P2W connotations of this new Locust hero, I am stoked to have another Locust to play. :)

ive killed jenners 1 on 1 in a locust 3s.

...only because those jenner pilots were bad and should hang their heads in shame

since the quirks i have been having absolutely terrible games in the locust. getting insta-killed over and over, or just having teams so inept that im amazed they can walk and talk at the same time. is it better? probably, but goddamn man i have not seen it.
and i have a positive KDR in all my locusts

Been a bit a derping with players testing out their new mechs.. ..not to mention people are starting to pay more attention to our tiny brethren.

No point comparing most mechs individually against another specific mech. The only question you have to ask is: Does the mech work in any capacity.

The answer will always have 2 sides, but for the locust it is still pretty 1-sided. Locust is undeniably better than it was, but it still under-performs for the effort put into piloting it. You might get a few good games here and there, maybe a decent average, but it does not perform as well as any other light (except arguably the commando).

Assuming both pilots never miss a shot, the jenner F will beat any locust.
Not to hate on locust pilots, but I ALWAYS see them running off and dying at the start of the game.

Maybe its because they are the cheapest mechs, and noobs buy them and suicide run?

Legging locusts with an ac/20 is one of my favorite things in MWO.

Actually it's even heavier. A Locust to a Jenner is as a Jenner to a Dragon / Quickdraw / 60 ton mech

Diametrical opposites.

You take a Jenner to win versus competent opponents. At worst its the 'other' top choice.

You take a Locust to show scrubs just how bad they really are. The worst mech.

IMO, the Locust is used for tightening pilot skills...that and fear inducing thrills.
If i notice i get too aggro and take too many risks in a heavier mech, i roll Locust for a while.

Hero Locust??? Im guessing the business decision was thus:

PGI looks at this thread.

Decides there are some crazy *ss players who will pay $5 to run in a...uh?...oh yeah!!!...an ECM Locust with a Cbill bonus!!!(p2w model right there!)
INSTAPROFIT...from about 30 insane players! Shameless. Predatory. Unethical. Disgusting. Probably also Treasonous.

I think ill buy one...

My catapult was killed by a locust in 3 seconds. 3 SECONDS!

They need to be nerfed.

I'd pit a competent AC20 toting 4H pilot against a competent jenner pilot post quirks.

20 to 35 is 15 tons... 35 to 50 is another 15 tons.... unless I'm missing something.

I would imagine (from a pure performance standpoint), the Jenner would be better. The Locust is fragile, can't carry the same loadout, and doesn't have JJs. Due to the Locust's really small size, it can fit in some odd places (like under the ramps on HPG), but that advantage VERY rarely comes into play.

Still, I use the Locust over the Jenner because it came in the Phoenix pack. I have them, so I use them. I only still have one Jenner (Founders), and it is sitting in the Mechbay completely stripped.

I have killed lights in my Locust 3M too. Funny thing is, both of us take advantage of the lag shield, but often other lights have anti-heavy mech types of loadouts (ERLLasers, or even MLasers). A 3M with 5 SPLasers (High DPS, short cooldown) is actually nice against another light's legs. If the enemy light gets in a cicle straffe with me, I normally start cutting into his legs quick with the SPLasers where his more powerful weapons have a longer duration and longer cooldown. I seem to apply damage much quicker. Bummer for them B) .
