Dev's have stated that this is a no go. If that variant didn't come w/ JJ, it can't have JJ.

Catapults often use JJ to find a nice high spot to shoot LRMs from, can often also stop mechs running at their face too
Acutally an interesting questions would be how do LRMs do vs Jump Jets. Becuase many a game you could avoid some/all of LRM fire by jumping just before they would hit

and Cataphract, good to see, good to know.
I was messing around in mw4 and DFA'd a Hellhound, and it got me thinking.
so assuming that they include the variants of the Cataphract and the Trebuchet that have JJ, Catapults and Jenners wont be the only ones going all Mario on people heads.

Actually a dev has said that a variant with Jets can have them removed or placed back on as you see fit. It is a choice on those variants. It is not a choice however for non JJ variants because they can't use them at all. Basically if the variant has no jets by default, then the answer is no. If it does have jets by default, then you can either use them or yank them out and use that space on something else.

The Commando will be the best scout mech for urban maps as it is well suited to fire a barrage of 10 missiles at point blank range and then run away during its reload. The Raven is unmatched in terms of gathering information about enemy positions. The other scouts probably can't equip all those gadgets or there would be no point for the Raven. Look again at the Jenner and notice that it has issues with heat build up. The Jenner is built to shoot once then run away and hide.... that's not terribly fun imho. When you factor jump jets into the equation you're also talking about more heat.

Yes.
The Raven is a fantastic electronics platform. The Jenner has jump jets and pretty solid weapons loadout for an IS Light, but not much else to speak of, and "well armed for a Light" is not the same thing as "well armed". If you want to kill things, you don't generally pick Light mechs (except Adders). In terms of actual scouting, where you go find enemies for your team without getting blowed up for it, the Raven is a champ.
You're also overrating the importance of Jump Jets. Sure, they're fun and they feel cool, but I'd usually rather spend the extra tonnage on armor and heat sinks, or maybe a better engine.
