MWO is overly arcadey kinda like MW4... If you want something like MW3 try MWLL

MWO is more akin to MW2 Mercs and MW3 is NOTHING like MWLL.

People don't seem to realize that MW3 and MW4 weren't accurate with Battletech source material and are in very different time periods than this game. This game reminds me more of MW 2 Mercs, which has a much more similar Mechlab, same era technology, and no things like Combat third person view or coolant flushing. It's more or less a sequel/remake to MW 2 Mercs, not those other games. Age aside, that was the best game in the series and that is the one they are mirroring here, with the Mechlab, view mode, time period, etc.

I have some bad news for you MWO has the same prob with the Battletech source material as MW3 MW4.
All I can say is thier are working on it and Beta user are talking about such thinks a lot. Thier are 2 camps on this One are the hard core battletech Fans the other are the PVP get it out as a Arcade game.
I cant say any thing more on this.

OK mr kerensky, but that just makes MWO even more arcadey and regressive.

To say MW3 is Nothing like MWLL is absurd, there are many parallels because both are more SIM oriented. (aiming that is not purposely made sloppy by goofy mechanics, effective long range combat, mechs actually feel heavy, better armor standards that don't always give the opponent plenty of liberty to close in, etc)

This is definitely the best MechWarrior title since the mid 90s. MechWarrior 3 was an excellent game, but it went forward at the cost of greatness.

It reminds me of the 3025 beta, except packed full of win. You are right on mw3 and 4 were nearly different games.

I dont understand how MWLL's powerarmors inside mechs, 20s field repairs or hand held weapons (micro PPC) being better than mech mounted makes it more SIM oriented. All those are very arcade like features...

MWLL was far from SIM oriented. Aiming is a joke since MWLL players spend more time cowering over the hill with their LRMs than actually doing anything.

To each his own.

MW:4 was... not awesome.

This game... will be awesome.

MW4 brought electronics into the field- made them matter tactically, and it made mechs not gunbags; a different mech the same tonnage as an other would operate differently. MW4 was not a perfect game, and it wasn't perfectly executed, but it had a lot of very good ideas. Give credit where credit was due.

I said far more sim oriented.

At least they have to poke their head over the hill to get a lock :), and the "cowering" is because long range weapons are actually long range and effective at 1000m+.

I don't see how that makes aiming a joke though? Wouldn't you say a multi-million cbill war machine with sloppy aiming mechanics and no effective long rang potential is a joke? If not it just means the game is woefully arcadey.

MW 4 could have been cool. But the Devs took away the incockpit views, and gave us what? HUDs. It felt too close to Quake for me. You cannot have a Mechwarrior without incockpit views. At least, not if you want MY bucks.

not just that but they actually made aiming smoother in 3rd person, i had a ton of fun playing it though. Its like MWO if you take it too seriously your gunna have a bad time :) great mech lab though :) oh and CTF all arcade games need CTF hint hiint...

I actually liked the MW:4 Mechlab, to an extent. It was at least polished, but it had the same issue as MW:3 - not the fault of the mechlab, but again, "Medium Lasers for the Win" comes to mind :(

I quit the game in disgust after about six or seven attempts at doing PVP and seeing everyone in the same damn mechs / builds.

I love lag shooting with autocannons... at a moving target :) Oh wait... that's like firing a rifle at a moving target too...

Let's all pray to the 'Mech-Gods that it's not like MW2 lag shooting (aiming 5 lengths ahead of target) :(

I think most of us have high speed internet now and not dial-up. I don't think lag shooting will be on the table. :(

Umm, there are incockpit views. Not exactly high res, but definately there.

Still would like to know why Joystick "won't be needed" (what a silly statement.) Your PM box is full, so I couldn't PM you.
