Giving the IS the ability to equip clan weapons would be one way to introduce the Clan battlemechs to the game without breaking game balance.

The issue then would be that the Omnimechs wold be the worst mechs in the game. That would kind of take the wind out of the sails of the IS loyalists waiting for their first omnis in the 3060 timeline.

Not to mention it would be ass backwards as far as the lore goes... Omni's were an improvement over Battlemechs...

Maybe if they let Omni's save 2 to 3 load outs to hot-swap between maps, once you see the mission profile might be a way to counter the issues that Omni's face...

It sucks getting put on Alpine or the desert, when you are set up for a Knife fight... Mind you being long range heavy on Terra Therma tanks too...

To be fair IS omnis are some of the worst IS mechs in TT, and i'll list out all of the starting ones with all their problems.

Raptor (25t): 25t, stock jenner speed (7/11 in TT), is only given endo, no JJs
Owens (35t): SHS, no endo/ferro, Tag and BAP are hardwired, no JJs
Strider (40t): SHS, goes just as fast as a Stronkbro
Firestarter Omni (45t): 2 hardwired flamers in the CT, no really outstanding hardpoints till 3060, 6/9/6 (stock FS9 speed), XL engine
Blackjack Omni (50t): 4/6/4 with a XL
Black Hawk-KU (60t): Take everything that's bad about the nova and put it on a 60t mech with a IS XL, no endo or ferro as well.
Avatar (70t): It's a 4/6/4 with an XL, no ferro or endo, only 10 DHS in it's 280 XL, and 2 hardwired MLs (the only omni that has ok'ish hardwired equipment).
Sunder (90t): 15 DHS hardwired (with one in the RA), 4/6 with an XL, no endo/ferro.

I'm going to admit that the Avatar and Sunder might not be that bad, but both are far from good. But at the end of the day a good portion of the IS omnis make no sense, atleast untill the Light Fusion came around, and even then there wasn't very many Omnis being made by the IS. Now during the fedcom civil war there was 2 new omnis, the Hauptmann and the Templar.

Templar (85t, intro 3062): XL engine, 4/6 can go 4/6/4 with one variant, same variant that jumps also gets a CT ECM
Hauptmann (95t, intro 3060): 3/5 with std, Prime has CT ECM, 2 years after intro it gets a LT with ECM, gets a wide range of hardpoints.

disclaimer: anything about ECM is mostly based on current impletation without any of the "balancers"

So how might one get a testing invitation? I would love to be a part of that. ...

Better start making friends with those NGNG types right now. Those are the people PGI usually turns to when they want the opinion of the "competetive playerbase".

No! You can't do this to us! That's the worst mistake that you're making there. Give Urbanmech some love!

Are you playing this game? Omnimechs are LESS versatile than Battlemechs here, thats not backwards

I would assume (hopefully) that VOIP would include the ability to mute players as needed, like most other games. Not sure where people are getting this idea that they'll be forced to listen to a chorus of pissants.

On the voip as its called, I see it as being used a massive griefing tool or worse.............

On the other hand the comms wheel or what ever thats called sounds immersive and fun. It could have different accents or lots of different characters.

You cant do that in GAME like you can in most other games so why would you assume that

There is one thing confusing me about CW matches:

Do you ONLY play the Invasion Mode or do you play a mix of Invasion Mode + Conquest/Assault/Skirmish for CW matches?

I'm not sure if this is asked, but what about that public test thingy they mentioned about "CW tests"? Was that today, or only internally in PGI?

Supposedly its going on, but theres not a new version since the Hero mechs were updated on the test server. Though im not 100%, I dont feel like dling 5 gigs again just to find out.

Its "friends and family" first, which they did once before, which was invite/opt in...but since im not riding Lowtax's coat tails anymore, no one tells me wtf is going on now.

And clearly they need hundreds of testers.

So....*waves* here we are PGI. Word of Lowtax and 15DR is ready to test this ****.

Guy I was talking to tonight says mixtech is highly unlikekly because accouring to paul the IS mechs would then be better than clan

And apparently Paul says the mech would have to be locked like the clan mechs are to have clan tech put on them (a waste imo - Id rather not have mix tech than that)

# Are you worried about player backlash on this proposal?
- Players have to accept things have to change for the betterment of the game. Something has to give.. cant get something for nothing.
Best answer I have ever read from PGI!

For right now everything they've said is "invasion mode only" and that they'll look for ways to integrate different game modes later on.
