Lag Lead

I am playing from Europe, I never played a game with 150-200 ping, normally all the games I play has a server in Europe also.
Lately I am discerning specially against lights that, even that I square them in the sights and shoot in CT, the damage doll does not flash/display any damage at all.
Off course I don't experience that with heavies/assaults but my question with 150 ping should aim in front of the lights or even that will not make a difference and the hit will be not detected?

So for me, with lasers, i spray and pray. With acs i aim straight on.
Maybe it is the "traverse time" of the projectile that is causing desync?

Any way if you happen on the problem.. especially with lasers try moving them around a little and you should see where the HSR actually put the enemy.
And before you ask... yes i play from europe and yes i have about the same ping as you do.

Right after the implementation of HSR it was possible to aim, shoot and actually hit a mech, but it seems the system got alot worse since then.
This weekend I had a duel with a Timberwolf where the problem became very obvious.
While circling eachother I tried to take out the already open and orange CT.
I hit him with lasers 2-3 times and was wondering why he wasn't dead yet.
So I checked the paperdoll and noticed that my shots were not on the CT but on his LT/LA.
When I started to shoot at his RT/RA I suddenly hit the CT.
This happened at a range of 50-100m and speeds of 50-80kph and a stable ping of 122-128.
Against light mechs it's even worse.
It's not as bad as it once was, where you had to aim 2-3 mech lenghs ahead, but you still have to shoot the air in front of a mech to actually hit it.
I see Spiders running around between 4+ enemy mechs for minutes and come out alive every day.
Firestarters dealing more damage than assaults while "tanking" a whole enemy lance.
Locusts take multiple alpha strikes on the legs without more than a few scratches.
If you climb in a fast light mech with slightly higher ping and try to do the same though,...
It's really strange sometimes, but that you have to lead targets to hit them where you want is a fact.

I know it would divide the player base but I hope they start an European server soon, I think there are enough player to support that.

The funny thing is that it already worked very well.
When they implemented HSR you really could aim at a spot on a moving mech and hit that spot.
That was when light mechs started to die like flies, because now people could reliably hit their legs.
That's why they gave the light mechs the buffed leg armor and internals.
I don't know what happened, but hit registration got alot worse since the first implementation of HSR.

I'm going to have to remember to aim for the empty air in front of them with lasers, this is ridiculous.

Can't tell for sure, but to me it seems like you have to add pings to get the real latency which you have to counter by leading the target.
Spectating a number of light mechs, it seems like low ping players get less damage registered than players with higher pings although shooting them should be more accurate.
Don't know about players with very high pings.
It feels like HSR tries to even out high and low pings, but fails at this job.
Please note that this is from personal experience and observation, so all of it is speculation and probably not objective enough.

I, too have high ping, between 240-260.
You don't have to lead that much at all. If your target is fast, and moving laterally, aim at the extreme leading edge of their silhouette and you'll usually score a hit.
Of course, sometimes the watching overlords of HSR won't favour you, and you'll miss no matter what you do. If i'm having trouble hitting the pesky little buggers, I'll save my fire for more opportunistic strikes, when the enemy is moving more towards or away from me.
