The other option is to force people to go through the indoctrination and training program of the clans. 1-2 years in basic training should wipe them into some semblance of shape. Of course that will never come close the same thing as being trained from childhood to be the best warriors there are.

I'm getting sick of "I want my clan stuff!!! It's not fair!!" posts.
August 7th sees the start of the Founder section of the Closed Beta - after that you'll see the Open Beta. Presumably the both of those phases will see us into September at least, if not October. Are you *honestly* complaining that you have to wait less than 12 months for your favourite mechs after MWO goes live? I personally hope, despite loving the clan mechs, that they never let people play the clans, simply because I've seen far too many whiny little children who are complaining about the lack of clan mechs at release. Be grateful the clan invasion is only a year away - a lot of us would have happily had a bunch more years happen before the clans invade - the Galahad Exercises which were immediately before the 4th Succession Wars (if memory serves) would have been excellent to see happen.
I know I'm a relative newcomer, but I'm getting fed up with people complaining about lack of beta keys and a lack of clan mechs. Sit back, take a deep breath and go find something else to do for the next month - they're doing what they can and can't be rushed if we want the best they can give us.

Aye - and they don't get to have a mech until they pass the trials to get one. And Trials of Grievance every time they upset someone. And the Bloodname trials... and Trials when a younger mechwarrior wants a promotion.
If they want to be Clanners, let them BE clanners.

Sorry this entire post makes me laugh. I don't care what you think. I have a particular Mech that I enjoy piloting and so do you.
Just like I'm sure your favorite tin-can has been in all the games at kick-off, so has mine. So please, don't talk down to me (or others for that matter). Keep it to yourself... Bottom line, The Battetech Universe without the Clans is only half the universe.
BTW this post was ultimately intended to get people talking about the Clans. You need a firery topic to get things going. So there you have it, it's going. Maybe you should get over your sickness and post something less comical. Same goes for everyone else "who just can't stand the clan and clan lovers" (my quote). Good grief...........Federated Suns FO-LIFE! shnoogins.

This is far from a "Fiery" topic, and in the wrong section to begin with. There's an entire sub forum dedicated to Clan talk.
I'm usually disgusted, and dislike people who like the clans because 90% of them have the same mentality.
They like the clans because they're new, and shiny, and have better tech, or have their stupid code words, and have a "code of honor".
The clans cease to be special when you see so many of them in so little spacing; this would be comparable to seeing a 2012 mustang or 2012 camaro driving down the road every 5 minutes. They're cool cars, and they're shiny/new, but when you see one every 5 or so minutes driving on the road, its just not cool anymore, its repetitive and boring. Now if I see a 1978 SS Camaro, I'll be pretty impressed and think "Wow thats pretty damn cool" because not everyone and their brother drives one down the road every 5 minutes or so, the same could be said for seeing someone drive down the street in a Bugatti Veyron.
Now if clanners were like Bugatti Veyrons and only a rare amount of them popped up every now and then, then I'd think they were special.
I wont ever join the clans, but I sure as hell will kill as many as I can and use all of their stuff to kill they're raging/skill-less comrades.

The Clans arrive in the Periphery (outside of the IS proper) in August of 3049 (specifically, Phelan Kell is captured by Clan Wolf on August 13, 3049).
The Clans arrive in the IS proper (mainly by cutting through the FRR, as well as some Lyran and Combine space) in March of 3050.
Assuming the Devs stay with the canon timeline and the 1-to-1 time progression, we shouldn't/won't be seeing the Clans in the IS until March of 2013.
If the Devs don't stay with the canon timeline or the 1-to-1 time progression.. who knows?
----------
Furthermore...
From Bryan Ekman:
Quote
Players can earn the privilege to be a member by earning loyalty points and performing certain feats/actions.
in response to CoffiNail's query:
Quote
So, we know that (to the chagrin of many) the Clans are planned to be player-joinable, and that they are apparently planned to operate similarly to how the Factions (the Houses) work, rather than being like Merc Corps or Lone Wolves.
Canonically, the original invading Clans are the Wolves, the Jade Falcons, the Ghost Bears, and the Smoke Jaguars, with the Nova Cats and Steel Vipers joining the invasion in July-October of 3050.
As such, I for one would expect the original invading Clans to become available in March of 2013, with the latter two becoming available sometime between July and October of 2013 (assuming the Devs stay with the canon timeline and the 1-to-1 time progression).
Your thoughts?
P.S.: I have no intention of joining the Clans when they become available, and the only 'Mech I *really need* is a Marauder.

Viva Marauder! Viva House Davion!

which is why I drive a '91 Fox Body but I would trade it in a moment to get my hands on a '69 boss 302.

Agreed. But I have always had a soft spot for the Ghost Bears.

With that said, the Battletech universe has a MASSIVE history. One almost as detailed as Star Wars. The Clans are only a small part of a much larger whole.

But with the Unseen out of the picture, I admit that the next most iconic Mech to the Atlas is the Timberwolf (Madcat) and would like to see him and his bretheren as soon as possible.
