Hopefully when clans are brought in, they will use an Honor system instead of economics in addition to only going in in 10 vs 12 battles or similar odds.
Honor system including a very easy to code in One guy engages an enemy mech, that target is his until someone starts a grand melee(very easy to change the icon color of engaged enemy mechs so other clan teammates know). If the starter is a clan member, they get hit with a 75% honor penalty for the entire fight.

Also bonus honor points for killing a heavier mech, negative points for killing a lighter mech. The heavier or lighter the mech is the bigger the bonus/penalty. A Cougar kiling an Atlas would get a great bonus, but a Diashi killing a Commando wouldnt get anything except a bill for ammo expended.

As to who plays the clans, I would like to see the clanslimited to those who truly embrace the clans way of life. This includes the language (the use of proper grammar and absolutely NO contractions), behavior in combat, clan sense of honor and a willingness to forgo anyIS tactics. The clans are not just IS in better mechs: they are a totally different culture.

I think that the Clans will be a NPC faction otherwise half the playerbase would have superior mechs with superior weaponry on them and that wouldn't do for a PvP game.

But they would also be outnumbered. I dont think the devs are dumb enough to allow 12 vs 12 against the clans. While the IS operates in company size, a clan unit will have 10 on the field. Enacting the honor rules I mentioned would also cut down on the size of clan mechs as who wants to pilot a 100 ton mech and only get bare even honor points for killing an Atlas while the Storm Crow pilot is getting lots of bonus honor. Not having the clans playable would be disastrous for the devs company with the large fan base they have and waiting to jump over. They just need to implement them correctly with very different mechanics for the meta and actual game than the IS has.

I think they are just going to release the Clan Mechs to the public. Plain simple and boring. When it comes to the point when people get to pilot them they are all going to be released with no special honor system or amount of units that can be on the field at any given time. I really think there is a lot of wishfull thinking happening. Not trying to be a downer but I just think they are going to keep it simple. Might be some match specific options but nothing other than that.

I love reading how people think the Players of the Clan's should be held to Clan battle tactics when it comes to engaging an enemy. While, i DO agree in part, but only when it comes to Clan on Clan, like Jade Falcon against Smoke Jaguar or Wolf against Ghost Bear for example. They fail to realize that the edicts that dictate how a fight is fought does not translate to fighting those of 1) dishonorable intent or suspected of it. 2) the IS since, they do not know how (when the clans first show up at least) they typically engage. Besides, once the first shot is fired, all bets are off. I am stoked that the Clan i want to play is Wolf, which should pop up in March. Oh yeah! <randy savage oh yeah>

since they are saying this is all PvP, expect clans to be a played faction. Expect alot of us to jump that wagon as well.
