There can be other things in an atmosphere that can mess with thermal vision or other sensors.

And by the by, you guys must be blind, I have no trouble seeing in the jungle.

They do appear hotter via thermal vision.... so.... what was the lecture on a topic I already understand about?

Actually, no they do not on Terra Therma. On that map everything appears basically white except mechs which appear black.

Heat vision should be removed from the game.

I'd put that pretty low on the list of things which should be removed from the game.

But not at all distances, sometimes they don't appear at all. I never, never, never use it on that map or caustic.

The fog does feel too thick. You don't really get to appreciate certain parts of the map and we already have enough foggy/smokey maps. I'd still like some fog but just dial it back a bit.

Reading the thread title, I thought this thread would be about peeing in the pool or getting hairy palms.

Thermal reduces my framerate by about half, so ... no... I use my own eyes. Plenty sufficient.

I tried shooting the red boxes, but too many shots hit indestructible terrain.

Which reminds me: can you please strap some Viridian Bog trees to my Mech? Given they are indestructible and all.

its also great to get stuck on roots ALL OVER, esp in a slow heavy mech and in the time it takes to turn around or back up you get your face shot off.

On test map heat vision blocked by plant leaves? Come on REALLY?

Heat vision now useless on this map as far as I can see. Shoot the red box a hope.

Scout and tag time.

I played only for the new map today early morning and i got it only once in 2 hours. Its a bit shame, a little frequency raising needed.
But i need to know the map better, in the fight i didnt see an edge and fall down just in the front of 2 enemy mechs, i didnt last long...

Nope. I just shoot at the red boxes.
What you should try though, its heat vision on terra therma. Makes mechs stand out a lot.

too bad that ecm mechs don't have any, making any small light in a jungle green newbie paint literally impossibel to see.

Why dont they add beacons or sensor jammers on the map...

Jams heatvision the for xx time or the whole battle.

problem solved...

It'd be easy to explain thermal vision away by saying something like:

"The ambient temperature and humidity provides challenges for thermal sensors already, but a metallic compound is present in the bog mists which scatters infrared radiation, preventing the use of thermal sensors on this battlefield."

(NOTE: IRL militaries generally upgraded their smoke grenades with metallic particles in the smoke, which makes it impossible for thermal or NV goggles to see through. It's actually a pretty realistic idea.)

I think the issue is the glow/bloom/whatever function and how it varies by resolution - similar to how MG flare looks at high vs low resolution, lower resolution players might be seeing more and more of the glowing fog and less of the other elements.

For me, while heat vision does clear the fog, the movement of intervening terrain, etc. is much easier for me to see with eat vision off. It's nowhere near as bad as Frozen City (day), which I pretty much run with heat always on.

Give us the option to shoot the lobsters. We could all stop killing each other. Crack open some MRE butter, and just have a hug fest around a fire and talk it out.....
