They do appear hotter via thermal vision.... so.... what was the lecture on a topic I already understand about?
Actually, no they do not on Terra Therma. On that map everything appears basically white except mechs which appear black.

But not at all distances, sometimes they don't appear at all. I never, never, never use it on that map or caustic.

Which reminds me: can you please strap some Viridian Bog trees to my Mech? Given they are indestructible and all.

Heat vision now useless on this map as far as I can see. Shoot the red box a hope.
Scout and tag time.

What you should try though, its heat vision on terra therma. Makes mechs stand out a lot.
too bad that ecm mechs don't have any, making any small light in a jungle green newbie paint literally impossibel to see.

It'd be easy to explain thermal vision away by saying something like:
"The ambient temperature and humidity provides challenges for thermal sensors already, but a metallic compound is present in the bog mists which scatters infrared radiation, preventing the use of thermal sensors on this battlefield."
(NOTE: IRL militaries generally upgraded their smoke grenades with metallic particles in the smoke, which makes it impossible for thermal or NV goggles to see through. It's actually a pretty realistic idea.)

For me, while heat vision does clear the fog, the movement of intervening terrain, etc. is much easier for me to see with eat vision off. It's nowhere near as bad as Frozen City (day), which I pretty much run with heat always on.
