On Very High graphics settings the pirate's bane's weapons look like this.

On low settings the muzzle flash makes it possible to see.

Can this please be adjusted?

That would be great if it could be fixed... because right now that's my only deterrent from buying the Locust hero... still buying the Gray Death though :D

Even the standard Locust variant (can't remember designation offhand) isn't that blinding from using 4 MGs...

The Pirates Bane mech is not the only mech that is affected by muzzle flash

Muzzle flash is the reason I had to quit running my Shadow Hawk 5M

I do... it's torture on my eyes and GPU not to play on a high graphics setting... otherwise... why did I spend all this money building a gaming PC?

Greetings all,

Try adjusting the 'graphics setting' for 'Bloom' down, also 'particles' may be where all the extra detail for the 'flash' is being added.
- But if Alexander is 'on it' we should know just what the cause is shortly.

On "low" this is where the bigger flash is - not sure it can be turned down.

While you're looking, also take a gander at the SHD w/ MGs mounted in the LT. One way to blind yourself is to turn those on with heat or night vision - all you see is the flash.

Greetings all,

Just for comparison reference,

-The vehicles that use thermal sights and have large weapons, normally have a linked 'shutter' built into the sight.
- When the weapon fires, it 'blinks' during the muzzle blast effect. Thus saving the expensive optics from being 'over saturated' and temporally blinding the operator.

This would be for a single large barreled vehicle, the same does not happen when Mg's are used. But with only every 4th or 5th round being a tracer it's not as blinding as the main weapon blast.
- Many of the game Mech's have there muzzles very close or at the same elevation as the Pilots view, not very effective if the Pilot is in thermal vision mode. (and the blinding effect is more pronounced)

What we see in-game is still no where near what 'real' weapons systems push out for the muzzle blast. Just a single 120mm tank round creates a blast/ fire ball as large as the entire tank. And the game weapons systems are stated to be even larger.
- If they ever modeled what the actual muzzle effects were, the game would be unplayable at brawling distances. Even with flash eliminators, muzzle breaks, futuristic propellant, still would be blinding.

On a related side note:
Here's a slow motion video of large weapons firing, the muzzle blast is breathtaking, to say the least. Watch the missiles near the end for what LRM's should be doing.

OP has just discovered his first step to become a competitive MWO player.

Soon he'll learn to disable the depth of field, cockpit glass and motion blur.

Maybe he'll even change his FOV.

Dont forget the arrow!

That has six Machine guns giving you tunnel vision.

The BJ Arrow is of no comparison to what I saw in the video above... At least I can see where I'm walking and aiming in my Arrow... not so much in that video above. I am going to buy the LCT-PB tonight with the SHD-GD hero... but if this cannot be resolved eventually, I may be inclined to ask for a refund in the near future (edit/note: mind you I've never asked for a refund... even after buying the St. Ives Blue... horrible mistake).

Since purchasing the LCT-PB over the weekend I can confirm that the muzzle flash is entirely too much for this Mech. Some other Mechs it can be a bit blinding and obstructive in view.

Maybe the muzzle flash effect of the Machine Gun overall needs to be reduced in size. For such a smaller caliber shell, it puts off almost as much flash as a AC/2 or AC/5... which it shouldn't given one needs more propellant to fire the shell/round than the other.
