I thought we were done with the days of dumb challenges that require kills to get points, if there was an alternate goal like getting 5 or 6 assists the tournament would be 10x better and it wouldn't encourage such horrible player behavior.

I was interested at first because I foolishly thought for some reason that you only needed 1 kill or 1 assist as well as winning and surviving, but no you need 1 kill and 1 assist, so considering the very limited nature of kills it just makes the whole thing a crapshoot.

So, good job ruining another tournament with crappy rules. I guess the premium time is cool enough but I'm not thrilled about playing through hellish 0-12 and 12-0 stomps for its duration, especially when I can't effectively earn points because I tend to not run big mechs with loads of firepower.

I know there are threads about this already but I just wanted to give special attention to the biggest reason why it's dumb.

12 V12 and you can’t get 1 kill and one assist? Unless you’re in a light that’s not an ember. No one has any sympathy 4 you.

OMG stop whining

It took 32 matches for me to complete the challenge on my raven-2x (yea light's queue is light btw)

and I'm an average (didn't even join the ranks of 100 at the last tournament) pilot with an old pc (20-40 fps) and simple keyb/mouse

so yea that is so hard omg *cries*

The problem is needing the killing blow, normally it's not so bad being a credit to the team without getting killing blows, but of course in standard PGI fashion the tournament turns into **** because of 1 stupid rule.

What sucks about this tournament is all of the terribads who think hiding in the back with LRMs will see their team win.

Please be on the other team.

THIS! I am seeing the team with more LRMs losing more often than not, because people are working together, actually pushing and rushing in for kills, while the LRM mechs can't choose to hit a certain component and finish off a damaged mech.

My problem is my mechs that kill well, doesnt mean I survive or win....So I went with ECM easy mode but that means its hard getting kills.

My Wubcrow with Radar Deprivation, MPL lvl5 modules and hexa-MPL laughs at LRMs.

And it survives more often than not when I'm not being stupid. :)

I am having no troubles getting 1 kill in my Adder, Kitfox, Raven, Lynx, Timberwolf, Stormcrow, Atlas D-DC, Atlas S, and I probably could get a single kill in my Centurion Ah but I am trying to level my Ravens so I can sell them and finish my Atlases.

WRONG!

It is the survival requirement that turns it from a good tournament to a troll griefing fest.

Games with high damage, seven assists, no Kills and a win? Check.
Games with four kills, no deaths, one assist and a loss? Check.

The combination is brutal. There was some assault player who got seven kills, a win, and was alive, but no assist. No point. Really kinda BS in some ways...

Getting a kill is easy.

Walking away scott free after getting that kill and living until the end of the round without bitching out or hiding in a corner, difficult.

If you got armor or are fast its not that hard. Which is why the medium que has been shrinking since it began.

It's really not, if you took out the survival requirement and left the kill requirement in it would still be bad.

I'm not saying I'm a big fan of the survival requirement but that's really not such a big deal, ideally it even encourages people to go for the real objective in Assault and Conquest actually.

This challenge would have been better if it didn't require a win & staying alive both on top of a kill and an assist. a kill,, assist and one of the other would have been better. All 4 promotes douchebaggery, cowardice, and complete reliance on all 12 people working as a team.

Biggest reason is the need to live. This kind of forces you to be overly passive much more than you might want to be to get the carrot. You can have a great performance in a game and decisively stack the deck in your team's favor but you don't always live after you do that.

Or it encourages you to go for primary objectives more.

Yeah, a single kill, and a single assist. Like that's not the basics of every match to begin with. Are you trying to say that when you join your goal is, "I'm not going to go for any kills?" Don't lie. Everybody is always trying to get a kill.

I haven't noticed a single thing different in gameplay. It isn't like a leaderboard tournament where kills or assists are worth more than the other. Stop trying to blame your bad games on a formula that has likely had zero to nil impact on your games.
