It's actually very simple.

A mech with crazy firepower when left unchecked murders everything it sees. It's the same thing as a Dire Wolf.

The thing is while survivability isn't as high as I'd thought initially (it's far more durable than a Jager due to Clan XL), it does a lot of damage in a decent period of time.

I mean, you could say that a lot of mechs left unchecked will wreck face, but it's the speed of dishing damage compared to many other mechs that is incredible, while retaining speed (for a mech of that size) to get the heck out of trouble. Many other mechs cannot claim this.

What loadout is this TBR laying so much damage with? certainly not the standard laser vomit (4 ERML, 2 LPL) because that can alpha twice and is at max heat, MANY other mechs put down more dps (like, anything with an AC)

Are you talking about SRM bombers? because i get the feeling that all the complaints about TBRs are the SRM build, which would explain why im not seeing this OPness everyone else is - i hate SRMs, im crap with them and cant bring myself to like a weapon with so many drawbacks (spread, 270m range, slow non homing projectile)

I can't see how the laser vomit build can be considered OP when compared to the IS heat quirked energy builds anymore, it really can't run ballistics well, and LRMs can be spammed on any clan mech so...

With 4tons of JJs locked into the S torsos now the Timberwolf is actually a terrible 'mech to try and boat LRMs. I still see it done (I've even seen people trying to be an LRM boat with the -A LT on Dire Wolves this weekend) but it is a waste. Stormcrow, Mad Dog, Summoner, and Warhawk all do it much better.

5 CERMEDS + CGauss

Pure laser vomit still has a small window that needs time to reduce overheating. Lasers+Gauss have better synergy than most people think.

I run that build sometimes, and again, i really don't see how it can be called OP. 50 point alpha, with 35 of it being over a 1.15s duration? Its decent, but calling it the best thing in the game, in light of quirks.... no. no not really.

I wouldn't call it OP, but it allows for stupid amounts of firing uptime. Pretty much, you can fire a lot quite a bit before you worry about overheating. The colder the map, the more powerful it is, even if/when the Gauss ammo depletes.

It's ridiculously efficient.

It doesn't take too much effort to succeed. The question is whether you can max out its potential. That's the difference.

I run 6 x CERML/1 x Gauss. Damage numbers are always good but I get way more kills with 2 x CERPPC/1 x CGauss.
I love the 5 x CERML/1xCgauss in my SCR though.

Not just timber wolf. My ADR-A is pretty good, I just hang back with the rest of the artillery (LRM boats) fire off some missles and usually (assuming I don't run into an atlas) end the game with at least one kill and an assist on the majority of their team.

For your 6 CERMED+CGauss build, it has no JJs. I doubt you care for JJs but, whatever.

Good luck with that. You can probably make early shots, but you'll never get the time of day when charged aggressively.

Thunderbolt 5SS is best for the challenge, 7 medium pulse and just blow things apart that get close.

No, I don't care for JJs. And most non-brawling builds are at a disadvantage when charged aggressively. I always use the Stormcrow's speed to engage/disengage when and how I please.

Ran with a Stormcrow with 20 DHS, TC mk1 and 6 MPL. Not sure if it has anything else.

I wrecked face consistently, except when team was made of fail or I did something really dumb (rare).

Scariest is that I had multiple 3-kill matches and a 5 kill match... that's not a regular thing for me. I think it's the fact that I basically used it to deliver 48-damage alphas to precise locations, so I was far more likely to take a kill than my usual builds which almost never go to that level of concentrated damage.

That Wubcrow has earned its keep.
