Tournaments can change people's behavior. Forcing something like "staying alive" doesn't make people want to play better, it makes them terrified of death. People already want to stay alive, but in this game death isnt the end since you can still get assists. If we didn't have after death assists we would see this kind of terrified of death attitude everywhere in normal play. by Easy I meant that tournaments should encourage people to play better, not make them paranoid about messing up to the point where they are fleeing from battle in the hopes of advancing their progress.

lol REWARDING people for playing smart. I'm so sorry that all those players who previously spent every single event just running in to get a kill or assists and dying in 30 seconds can't do it this time.

Meh. Sometimes sacrifices need to be made. Except not here, not in the solo queue this weekend, anyway.

it's quite hilarious watching those that have spent every other tourney just running headlong into the enemy and exploiting the system and screwing over their team not be able to do that. It's great!

Best event ever PGI. Thank you! Please get more that concentrate on your team winning!

"Surviving" is more in the player's hands than "winning" is. So players use their agency to ensure the one they have more control over. I am puzzled that PGI didn't see this.

"0 friendly fire damage", figure out the rest mr creditcard.

OK, poor person.. so, that'd be true even though the conditions for a win require a kill.

That doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? It would likely make folk a little more cautious.. But honestly that'd be a good thing, IMHO.

Weekend challenges need to promote teamwork. This chellenge does not. Past challenges have not. Every weekend event has been about selfish play. This one is no different.

then move your mech right next to that "survivor" and bring the enemy straight to you

If you're already dea and they just shut down in a corner and refuse to play, report them. It's griefing, it's been well-documented that it's griefing, so take a screenie and report the,

Problem solved.

Once again, thank you for the vent PGI, it's nice to see deaths and losses actually have some consequences FINALLY

Well ... I dunno if you count it as teamwork if you ask in chat who didnt have a kill already that round and one person who didnt have so far got one served then, but I do .
I even count it as teamwork when suddenly Pugs start following plans, that were laid out just for funsies and help make them into wonderful victories .
Hell ... I even go as far as counting it as teamwork when I provide a legged light some of my armor/step into a barrage intended for him to keep him safe behind my (mostly) massive backside

And yes ... I am guilty of killstealing ... but only because im too triggerhappy and barely am able to reign in the firepower.
So : Sorry to whomever I might have stolen a kill for this challenge .

This one is still one of the better thought out ones, so try to adapt, because you know why ...

So teamwork is literally trolling teammates that are trying to get points for the challenge?
Go forth and copulate with thine own self.

No teramwork is not running off into a corner and shutting down screwing over your entire team because "I wanna win my event point!"

Which one of those examples (yours or mine) is against the rules?
Hmmm...

but keep on keeping on, as I said, the tears are delicious. I can't WAIT for CW if it's as hardcore as this event is!

The idea is to incentivize good/normal behavior. The OP's suggestion seems to head in that direction. The current challenge does not seem to do this.

Well, so far, I am seeing quite good team play in the solo queue, even though sometimes it required threats of me going

Banzai!

when someone tries to hide.

Unfortunately, no. They're considered as having "participated" and as such powering down to hide becomes a legit tactic.

And this is a good solution.

Except for many it does.

Teamamte get a kill and run off to hide?
Just plop down right next to them and continue fighting.
Teammate moves?
Repeat process
Teammate gets mad and starts being belligerent because you won't let them game the system or exploit or screw their team over?
screenshot and report

Problem solved ;)

negative good sir, you must CONTINUE to participate. There's plenty of threads that have addressed this over the years. It's illegal and reportable so just do it! :P

My itsy bitsy spider knows a lot of hiding places, and I just discovered that the Mist Lynx has even more places to hide. :D
