Nope. Fix-it program still asks me to install .NET framework version 2.0 or higher. Went to the Windows Features menu just to make sure the 3.5 box was checked off, and it was.

Try running the repair tool in the launcher.

Ran the On-computer Windows Trouble Shooter which announced it fixed the 0x80070643 error... BUT when I went to install the game it gave me that same error message again...
Yes, I restarted the computer after running the Trouble Shooter.

Was digging around in these here forums, and this was for a Windows 7 user, but you could always try it. Apparently, that thread says it is still finding parts of MWO installed on the PC. Perhaps we were going in the wrong direction. Check this thread:

Thanks Golrar, I had hoped that the Uninstall software had cleaned out those "bits" left over, but maybe not!
Ran the computer with the recommended sys config changes in the threads link, but still got the same error when I tried installing. Tried installing to a different file area as well just to see that would get around any "bits" still there. No joy.
I find it incredible that one silly "update" from Microsoft caused this game to start crashing, and now I can't even get it back on the computer. It's been THREE WEEKS that we have been working on this problem (off and on) with no luck. Wow.

Ok, I didn't WANT to do it, but I 'refreshed' my computer. This seemed like a good compromise option where my wifes files did not get erased. After I get a few things reloaded onto the computer I will try re-installing the game. Fingers crossed.

IT WORKED!!!! HOW EXCITED AM I? JUST TAKE A GUESS....LOL
I did a 'Refresh' of the entire computer, and shut off the updates option for the Windows system (computer was very grumpy about that), I then downloaded DirectX9 and attempted to Download the 3.5 .NET framework (didn't download). Next I attempted to download the 4.0 and 4.5 .NET framework, but was informed (by the computer) that they already existed. Same message came up when I tried down loading C++. At that point I went to the Forums and Downloaded the game, choosing the 'Typical' install option, and it worked!! It literally took almost an HOUR for the game to load as it went through the initial install and then went on to Patches, but it worked perfectly as soon as the down load finished. I tested logging in and playing a match, and then logging out, restarting the computer and logging into the game again. All happened perfectly!
On a more sober note thanks again to Golrar and everyone else who gave suggestions and encouragement here.
I wish I had not had to go to such extreme measures, but it is what it is. I will be reporting to Alex and the Support staff my success in a moment.

William,
I've been a silent observer over the last week because my expertise had been exhausted. Really happy for you. Looking forward to seeing you in game again.
Congrats!
