Anyone remember when GENIE had an online balttletech game in the early 90's?

$6.00 an Hour Genic Battletech, You know How Many lawns I had to cut to pay for that game, I had to stop playing due the $300.00 bill my Dad got on his account. (I did pay him off and got to play some more)

One of the reasons I quit was for the same thing ... At first it was $30.00 for a month ... 6 months later (i paid faithfully) they then changed it to $6.00 and hour and did not tell us... a bunch of us left LOL.

Love and hate all rolled up into one beautiful memory.

BattleTech was the reason I signed up for GEnie in the first place. I miss it dearly.

It was a great, tightly knit community. Unfortunatly, GE never really meant to compete with the likes of AOL or CS. They were just looking for a way to make extra money during the evening downtime of their corporate servers.

I still have screen shots of BattleTech. I'll have to dig up the floppys and see ifI can post some.
