At that point, it's best to take a Heavy or Assault mech, a mech that can carry, then kill them all for yourself.
Fair is fair.
I did exactly this in a Nova B, of all things. Finished up a cored Banshee and Timberwolf, solo'd a Jager (poor bas was running Dual 2 Dual 5), took down an LRM Cat, and then helped the critically wounded lights kill an Ember (though I deliberately left the Ember kill to a one legged Cicada)
Personally, I loved the Challenge (because Challenge it WAS) for the first fifteen matches. But the grind on the last 5 was almost intolerable. Especially as the IQ of the teams I was with seemed to degrade each match. Many of the matches, I was the only one pushing an advantage, in my KITFOX. It has been affectionately rechristened as the CarryFox, after multiple matches where I would charge the last few members of the opposing team.
My absolute favourite moment for the weekend though, was when I went barrelling over the lip of the Caldera into enemy territory on Caustic, both arms missing, smoking from the left side torso, Machine Guns Blazing..... and a Timberwolf, Atlas, and Direwhale turned and ran! However. NEVER charge a Wubbolt. The pilots of those things have balls of brass!
