this thread is completely asinine

just because the ac2s and to a slightly lesser extent, the ac5 were inefficient and lame in prior rules and games, does not necessitate that MWO has to follow that exact template now.

damage per shot and rates of fire are fairly easy things to adjust.

So let me see if I got this right. The sugestion of removing choises from the game for the reason that they are not powerfull. So only *** kicking powerful weapons alowed. I hear Munchcin talk.

Dude, don't be a troll. If you want to go make a BT game and omit the AC/2 then go right ahead. Until that happens you do not solely dictate how everyone else plays. Simply stating that a weapon is crap because you think it is doesn't make it so.

The main thing you have to remember is that, in classic rules, AC's let you pretty much "fire at will" but only for so long. Lasers had to be fired more carefully to watch heat build up. So, lots of good ranged damage dealt quickly until you run out of ammo, or good alpha that you had to be careful to not overuse.

It was a good trade off.

In MWO, we'll see exactly how that balance works.

But no, don't remove anything just because a handful of folks think it is 'useless.' Let us determine that after launch.

No what you hear is mamby pambies that probably take their son or daughter out to ice cream even when their team loses. They dont want any diversity or a chance that god forbid someone may actually have to learn something. That is what killed SWG is people couldnt grasp crafting so they pandered to the tee ball dads and changed it to cater to the easy moders.

The AC/2 will also outrange every direct-fire weapon(if using TT rules).
So, If i can boat 5 or 6 of these guys, I can tink away at your armor till I feel comfortable coming in and finishing you with lasers and a hunchie as back-up.
Even LRM's can't match the range of the AC/2.
The AC/2 has the longest range in the game.
An AC/2 equipped mech can harass and weaken an enemy, not to mention the psychological effect of being constantly peppered by an enemy you cannot shoot back at.

And, just to be sure it is said, yes - I know that if a Hunchback or - God forbid - an Atlas gets under my guns, I'm toast. But, as in most things with these sorts of games, having a few buddies using other builds / tactics and working as a team is key to winning with such a setup.

I'd rather focus on adding things than subtracting them.

yeah, I kinda go hmmm when I wonder why they would bother to change a great name like megalomania into something idiotic like Narcissistic personality disorder, then of course I realize that they changed it so they could shorten it to NPD, because MM sounds like some kind of chocolate candy :P

I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it. His ridiculousness is surprisingly entertaining. I'm curious to see just how low he can sink. :(

Mods please lock this thread.

It refuses to die on it's own.

It makes the Baby UrbanMech cry.

P.S. Cicada CD-3C with 2 AC/2's in place of the machine guns.

I bet there are lots of people playing the game right now that claims the AC/2 to be too weak and really of no use.

But as I said in due time you will see my way of things,
