I have been an opponent of the FP for a long time, check my post history if you need proof. I just bought the FP today and some of you might wonder why. I saw some of the leaked beta videos that actually show gameplay (more than any of the official releases.) The game mechanics that I was so worried about do not seem to have been violated. From what I saw, this is the MW game us old schoolers have been waiting for and the mechanics and balance look pretty close to what you would expect from TT (from what I saw.)

To the devs and PGI in general: Release more video and/or drop the NDA! You should not be hiding this gem! Spending $120 was an easy decision after seeing a little more footage. Also, HUGE thank you for making a great game.

This is far more than I normally spend on a game, but I want developers to see that Mechwarrior games can be profitable so maybe the next one will happen in less than a decade.

I must admit I did same thing and I'm not ashamed of it now that I actually saw what I'm paying for;
Also this is probably only game I will shell this much money for (well apart from EVE )

So how are you going to feel if they change those mechanics and you've already dropped your money on the game? It's still beta, and it's possible that core mechanics will still be changed. Granted it's unlikely, but still possible. Now you've based your decision to purchase the game on information that has yet to be finalized as "in the game".

Now I assume you'll ask for your money back. No big deal, except that now not only have they lost the cash that they depended on, they've also had to cover banking fees and the salary for the folks who handle all that stuff, so now they've effectively lost money.

I'm not belittling your decision to hold out for more info by any means. I'm just trying to point out the reasons why NDAs exist in the first place. I too am slightly baffled and frankly a little alarmed at the lack of new info, but I decided to take the risk anyway.

No i wont ask my money back. What i have seen looks promising and even if its changed, i believe it will be for the better.
The devs of this game seem to be very capable at what they are doing :-).

You know, from everything I have seen from the Devs (i.e. - Forum responses, official vids, live chats, listening to podcasts, etc.) I had enough faith to buy the Founders Pack minutes after it went on sale. It didn't require viewing leaked Beta footage, but I get that some people need a bit more.

It would probably be a good idea for the devs to go ahead and put up a bit of extended gameplay footage.

I still won't cry over it ; I saw gameplay which will only become better at this point on, so it's a win-win situation for me.

What I saw was enough to convince me that they already have a pretty good balance over a wide range of mechs. I can see them tweaking a couple things here or there and I'm alright with that. For them to make big changes that would make me regret the buy is highly unlikely.

The bottom line is I did my due-dilligence. I saw what I needed to see, read what I needed to read. I made a purchase on good information. There is still an element of risk, as you said the game is still under NDA and up for any change the developer wants. I have seen enough to convince me they will move forward with something pretty close to what I saw. The risk-reward ratio has been adjusted in favor of buy for me.

That's wonderful, but you know that won't hold true for everyone. Us gamers are a self entitled bunch, and many folks will take it as a personal slight if their favored mechanic gets removed or altered.

Now that said, I haven't seen the leaked footage (yet? haven't decided), but I'm glad the response has been positive

Well if you are easily offended by changes.. then you should act according to that and never act like i did :P .

And what if what you saw is not what the game realy is, would you be disapointed ?

I mean, the game still in its Closed Beta Stage. I dont think any Video could show the game mechanics, how they are impleented in MW:O is what I mean.

What if the Dev just decided to have the Medium Lazers deal 3.5 Damage instead of 5 because ML are OP ? What if the Large Lazers Range got increased to 1000m for Balance sake.

What if the Ammo has been tripled, like 1T of LRM now packs 360 missiles and 1T of MG Ammo now holds 600 rnds ? What if you can hold still in mid air using JJ for an infinite amount of time ?

What if the AC20 now deals only 10 points of damage, because they find it OP the way it works and want to balance it. How about LRM now deals 5 pts of damage for Balancing reasoning ?!?

Would any of those changes show on a leaked Video ? If thats what they were doing with MW:O, would you still want to throw 120$ at PGI for what they are doing to the game ?

Seriously, how can one throw away his $$$ into a leaked Video is beyond me... But again, maybe ive been in the gaming industry for too dam long...

Anyway im out, might see you cry on the battlefield.

I see it as spending money on something I enjoy that entertains me. It is no different than going to a video game retailer and dropping $50 or more on a console game that will be beaten in several hours. I find myself dropping money into games like EVE, WoT, STO and so on. These games provide more than several hours. I spent over 2 years playing EVE and STO plus a year in WoT. When I look at the games I play on my PS3 they only get played to completion then hardly touched again. Also there is the interaction you get with support that you do not really get with the console games.

These are my opinions on this topic. I am sure I will be dropping some $$$ into this game once I start playing it. Have been waiting for it long enough.

Your font sucks.

I already answered this above. There was enough footage to see how several of the mechs handled under different situations. I haven't personally signed the NDA but I'm not going to go into the details about it. If you want to see the video, it isn't very hard to find.

Again, there is still risk because things can change but I have done my homework here. I have seen what I needed to see to asuage my concerns. The expiring founder pack sale plays a part in the decision as well. Everyone on the forums has their own risk-reward scale. I was holding out for more data before going through with the buy. Now I have it and I'm happy.

And sweetheart, if you see me on the battlefield, it will be from your ejection pod high in the sky.

Agreed. The leaked footage converted several people I know from on the fence to founders supporters. We, as a community, realize some features have yet to be released such as NARC Beacons, EMS Guardian etc, and will implement at some stage in the future, but at this moment the core gameplay is intact. There is a lot to show here and be proud of, and a few more videos would certainly satiate the appetites of many would be founders supporters.
