STK-4N

or

DRG-1C

Its funny how every inner sphere mech is 12 million regardless of tonnage. My Wubcada was 12 million. Splathawk. 12 million. Wubshee. 12 million. Wubstarter. 12 million.

XL engines yo.

You want a Dragon, so you can breathe fire B)

A Stalker will get you on a sex offender list....

I would go with the dragon, because I would love to see more of them. (one of my first trial mechs I loved) But if you go with the stalker, you should swap those for ERs at least in my opinion, same tonnage but more range, and with a little fire control that extra heat doesn't matter much.

The quirks apply directly to Large Lasers, which have 20% more range, making them the same wth modules as ER, with -20% heat, hopefully meaning all 6 can be fired in tandum, at least with elite.

Heat capacity (elited): 73.44 heat units
Heat gen for 6 LLs (includes ghost heat): 71.99
You get a -20% heat gen because of Quirks.
Total heat generated via alpha: 57.59 heat units.

Yup that comes under ts 61 cap. That can alpha all 6.

Dragon is slower, and weapons seem lower mounted, but ive never piloted either so I have no idea how they practically function.

I know the Stalkers hitboxes are better.

If you really really must do either of those loadouts, I'd say the Stalker, mostly because of the abysmal 25% heat efficiency on the Dragon, combined with the fact that it moves at the same speed as a Direwolf, which will make targeting your XL engine sides trivial. The Stalker build used to be pretty decent, but what made it good was the ability to fire 6LL alphas every 20ish seconds, which is not a thing you can do now. If you fire LLs in pairs, you're staring at your opponent 100% of the time, and you really won't win any endurance games in an energy boat. At least the Stalker has good hitboxes and you're using a good engine in it though.

Stalker is one of the more favored IS mechs because of its durability, high mounted weapons. It was the mech that brought in ghost heat, because you could put 6 PPCs on it and drop mechs in a single volley. I can tell you from my experience piloting it, and fighting it, its a pretty nasty mech.

Dragon was abandoned because of its giant nose being a bullet magnet and making its a very large target. I think its only getting played because Dakka quirks, it can be decent. I piloted one as a trial a while ago, had a guass and 2 LLs I believe. It needs to be piloted carefully in order to cover that giant nose. Usually this means being a long range sniper with gauss and large lasers. It is decent at best I believe.

I don't think you will regret that stalker though, really good chassis. The dragon you might.

Yeah im leaning Stalker, though the Dragon better fits a niche in my drop deck. I know I can alpha those ERLL and fall back on the Gauss, which is FLPPD, at better range than the Stalker, though thats not always an option in every map. With modules its range is really nice.

I was leery because of the Hexastalker being what started Ghost heat, was worried even with the quirks, it was still in the waste bin.

Stalker's are pretty great mechs, with the Misery being the best of them.

If I was you I'd grab the Misery over the weekend while the deal's on. 3F is also a solid performer

I was and still am a fan of the stalker 3f as a sniper with 4 erlls.

After the quirks I tested the 4n extensively. But even with quirks it cant mount 6 lls effectively without overheating to much. You wont be able to alpha them enough to really do the dmg with those 6 lasers.

The 2 torso mounted lasers wont allow you to snipe over ridges. One of the major benefits of the stalker 3f.

If you really want the 4n I would use 5 lls. Use it as a ridge sniper just like the 3f and have a little extra firepower with an additional large laser when your forced into brawls.

If the 5th and 6th large laser would be mounted on the arms....that would be truely fearsome. But on the torso it severely limits their effectiveness. And you dont really want to go into a brawl in a stalker laser boat. With clans and quirks there is too much firepower in the game.

Even stalkers will melt too quickly.

I still do very well in the 3f but only when I use its ability to peek over ridges. Using it as a sniper.

For me, the 4N is by far the best Stalker now after the Quirkening. Blazing 6 LLs almost non-stop is just too much fun B)
