Ok maybe i'm mistake but when pilots ejected i though there were pods that rocketed them away from the exploding mech. I do like the reboot video but the pilot is only living long enough to be part of the expanding fireball coming to greet him from below

Real mechwarriors disable the auto-eject.

That's another part of BT that I will miss. The differences in what people do to ejected pilots. Nothings better than skipping shooting the next mech so you can blast the mechwarrior that just ejected. It's tea-bagging x 1000. Or if run over and stomp on him? Priceless.

Yeah, that's what I thought.
Always loved the pods. Maybe the reboot was just to do something different and catch attention.

I never cared for the pods really, plus in the canon most battlemechs only ejected a command couch as they call it. Say hello to vacuum!

The "Pod" thing was a creation of the C rated cartoon series of the mid 90's. Most Battlemechs have an ejection seat system like fighter planes, with some exceptions like the Wolfhound, Hatchetman and Axman that have the entire head separate from the Mech Chassis.
Ejection System

That being said it would be sweet to see Warriors riding rocket seats as their Machines explode in game!!!!

Or, like the Spider, they have no ejection seat. B)

i was in the nuclear explosion crowd, but now im thinking that instead it should be something like an explosion shooting out if the back or torso. like an ammo explosion just bigger, have bits going in all directions and possible bouncing off the cockpit glass.

The F111 had a full cockpit ejection system during the Vietnam War.

Something needs to explode, not all the time, but it should be amazing when it happens.

Only WOB shoot pilots. You don't wanna be a religious radical do you? B)

It is known that mechwarrior would routinely let their opponents leave the battlefield if they've sustained heavy damage. Why you ask? Probably because they'd like the same done for them when the time comes.

That was 3025 era when losing an arm meant running off the field to save your mech. Not sure what the common mentality is in a time when the machines become mass produced again.

Besides, mechwarriors are the most replaceable part. Killing an enemy mechwarrior doesn't matte rthat much when planets have populations in the billions.

actually the eject pods could be useful. In one of the old books a pilot was in a hatchetman with the old ejection system sacrificed himself by hitting an enemy mech with his 'escape capsule' (the head) in the back.

Possible damage maybe

Explosions should follow the BT rules, meaning there are only real explosions when the engine gets critted enough or if an ammo bin gets hit. Getting cored to the point of just falling apart shouldn't cause an explosion. However, my vote goes to ejection rocket seats. They're pretty awesome.

But the point is really moot though because infantry/on foot combat isn't in-game.

I've got a better idea. You blow sky high and eject but are still killed by the fireball/go splat when you land!

Actually, DC pilots don't eject either. It's considered a sign of weakness. During 2nd-4th succession wars, any DC pilot that ejected was dishonored. Also, any enemy pilot that ejected against DC mechs was considered to be insulting the DC and was KoS. As a result, generally DC pilots ended up not ejecting, not so much from the dishonor, but because the other factions knew they would get shot, so they "returned the favor" if you will. This changed some after the 4th succession war, when the value of the mechwarrior started going up, and the rarity of mechs started going down. Losing a valuable mechwarrior wasn't such a great idea. Trying to kick through the books on Sarna to see if I can find the reference. It think it's in the DCMS Mechwarrior book.
