I love the "simulation" feel of BattleTech and all, but it's too hard to explain to my friends and the new modelling/wargaming group I go to on Sundays, and to be honest I just don't have the patience for games that take an hour to set up and five hours to play.
Then after a google search BOOM! BattleTech: Alpha Strike. Simpler rules, approximations of unit stats (supposedly) instead of big awkward record sheets that intimidate my friends, and the game sets up and plays much faster, and according to reviews you can "stack" classic BT rules onto it to make it more or less complex as you want. Looks like the answer to all of my prayers.
But what I need to know from somebody who's played it is whether I have the wrong idea about it? Is it good? Or, would there be a better BattleTech game for my needs? (I already tried the clicky MW: Dark Age, didn't suit me.)
So, please help a noobie out here?
