XP and CBILLs were heavily nerfed when the new rewards came in.
Now there are more ways to earn CBILLs / XP but in most games the net result is less of each

nope. You just have to actually play the damn game to get XP and C-bills instead of just poking everything with a small laser and powering down.

Personally I find myself getting way more c-bills & XP on a loss (unless it was a really bad loss) than before the rewards were changed, and on a win it seems like a bit more on average though sometimes the reward is slightly disappointing.

Overall though I see that my rewards have gone up, recently I think I got something like 200k c-bills (with no premium time/mech bonuses) in my CN9-D brawler, while before the rewards were changed I only got that much once in a legendary match with my NARC Jenner and a perfect UAV drop; it's not too uncommon for me to see 130k-160k c-bill rewards on a win while, again, before rewards were changed, it was more like 100k-130k c-bills.

I'd like to say that it feels lower, but then again I've had some pretty crappy matches today.

Anyhow, here's the original post/patch notes. Seems to match what I'm seeing in game (at least the stats I've paid attention to).

XP is indeed much more anemic than it used to be. It was even worse when the new rewards first came out. They made a few adjustments since - but it's now almost impossible for an average player to break 2,000 XP. If you average in the losses where you get 60 XP the overall average is much lower than it used to be, in my opinion.

The only way to level up a chassis from scratch in a reasonable amount of time is to run the daily doubles on all the mechs you can in a weekend and then use MC to convert all the XP you earn to GXP - then use that GXP to level up your new chassis. This increases the sales of MC.

PGI claims they changed the rewards system to modify player behavior. Supposedly we weren't playing the game like a team or some such. I don't buy it. The new rewards system is all about maximizing PGI's income. Russ used to brag that the economy model in MWO was much more generous than WOT. He doesn't brag about that anymore for obvious reasons.

My XP hasn't gone down, but I usually play as part of the team formation. I've heard from many people that "lone wolves" and Snipers are experiencing lower XP because they aren't being rewarded for the teammate-oriented bonuses.

As mentioned, the idea is apparently to try to foster people to work as a group but since group queue is (inherently) about a group, solo queue is mostly where people are actually leveling and PGI apparently can't provide different rewards in group or solo queue (god forbid solo queue actually have some purpose other than being the game's consolation prize); you're left with rewards that are too weak to actually result in encouranging people to do anything. The icing on this poorly made cake is because those rewards COULD be good, the things people DO do in solo queue have to be nerfed to make up for the rewards they will never do. So, you get less XP. Go progress!

The new rewards were factored in and base XP was reduced. Things like spotting, flanking, hit n runs, and more all give xp bonuses now too.
