It's funny because most seem to agree it's better to leg them

Uh... actually you've left off the *actual* way to efficiently kill timbers.

Of course this is supposing that you're living in some magic land where they don't shoot back.

Eh, I usually leg... it just depends tho... usually they've JJ'd enough that their legs are usually weaker. If they have SRMs/LRMs in the torso then I just clip the ears off. It's really a case by case decision for me.

At range I shoot side torsos. Up close I shoot legs.

Anyway, going slightly off-topic, but is it me, or does my Timby arms always get destroyed whenever my ST goes kaput?

I don't always engage an enemy timber wolf.
But when I do, I make sure they are dc'd first.

I may misunderstand- but when a st goes boom, the arm is supposed to as well. I am pretty sure...

Just bring 2-5 of any other mech to bring down a TBR.

If you lose both Front and Rear ST armor and the internal structure is also gone, the arm on that side will be destroyed a well. If you have remaining Front or Back armor, the arm will stay functional as long as it hasn't been destroyed too.

Steps to killing Mad Cat.

1. Play map with good verticality. (Canyon, Crimson)
2. Locate Mad Cat.
3. Use high mounted weapon.
4. Position self with sight on bunny ears, but not on torso.
5. Apply "wall of death" to bunny ears.
6. Repeat till 4600 Cbill payoff.
7. Attack the now gimped Mad Kitten.
8. Profit.

FTFU. Juist cause its simpler doesn't make it "better".

Just a thing...
At our table we had a saying/joke:
"I've stripped the CT of armor. Now watch as I never hit it again!!!

If it has missiles shoot the ears. If not shoot the tip of the nose, can't twist enough to protect it.

Always the missile pods. As part of the side torsos, they are the surest way towards disarming the mech and applying most of your damage on the same component area.

Honestly...the legs on my TW will typically take you longer to remove than my STs. Just saying...leg me while I kill you.

Are you really bad? Good TWolf pilots twist and JJ so if you're targeting their torso you're going to splash damage all over their mech. Their legs are the fastest way to drop them, though it's a legitimate point that if you're hitting legs then they don't have to twist as much so they can shoot back at you.

Couldn't we just post this for any mech and highlight the cockpit hitbox?

Because it is supposed to? If I ripped out your shoulder would your arm still be functional? :)
