yes I realize this is MWO but then they are going to use the wot pay scale.
My first and most frustrating complaint of world of tanks and I pray it is not so big an issue with MWO. is the match maker. Fighting tier 7 with my tier 4 sucks big time.. UNLESS I have got it elite. THEN I could maybe understand.
I hope and pray that the devs here will spend more time getting the Match maker working much better than WoT .. especially since you can do the mech lab and modify your mech.
Just my input. Thanks for your time.

Realize that the games are entirely different, and work on entirely different concepts.

If you are in a Jenner, you may well be out there with an Atlas. On the other hand, as the Devs reminded us today, even a Jenner can hurt an Atlas.

The closest thing we may see to "tiering" are mechs that are highly advanced (heavily down the role trees or using SL tech) against more "stock" mechs. Not sure how that's going to work, but even at that, it's a fundamentally different critter.

Reminder, the game is in closed beta right now. Don't worry about something that may not be a problem.

I have not played world of tanks, and I'm not sure why so many people feel the need to compare it to MWO, but the developers have repeatedly stated that having a bigger mech does not make you automatically better than the little guy in the Jenner. Considering that having multiple people playing different roles on the battlefield is a cornerstone of the game design I don't think they would put in a matchmaking system that pits 12 atlases against 12 atlases.

The video they put out today clarifies this further:

Exactly, it won't be 12 atlases aganst 12 atlasas, if you smart I think if your going to take your team into battle you better make sure on your own you have a few scouts, and balance your own team if you don't you can't blame the devs for an unbalanced game get it together before you jump in.................................:)

the only matchmaking system that would make sense is grouping by pilots with similar win/loss records or possibly pilot xp together. There could be a subroutine that also alots x number of lights mediums heavys and assaults each to a side

There are no tiers, only roles to fulfill.

What is the "wot pay scale"?

Are you talking about the standard "gain currency/exp faster for paying a monthly fee" scale? More and more F2P games are adopting that, and it didn't start with WoT.

Yeah, it will be, 8 atlas + 3 catapult + 1 jenner vs 8 atlas + 3 catapult + 1 jenner.

Never played WoT, but I'm not sure what you mean by Tier of tanks. As far as I know there's just weight limites on mechs, Atlas weighs a 100 tons, Commando weighs 25. As far as weapons, armor, etc...if you can squeeze it into the frame you can use it. So a Jenner with an ERPPC is possible, You can always damage an enemy mech, all weapons are effective at slagging armor, anyone can kill anyone. In fact there's lots of talk about how a light mech can down an Atlas, it just takes smart playing. You can't go toe-to-toe with an Atlas bleching AC20s and except to survive that in a Jenner, but you can move faster and shoot a mech in the back. It's the way it's always been in the Mechwarrior games.

Sounds like Tiers of tanks have a certain Damage reduction versus lower tiers. If that's true, that isn't like what MW:O is suppose to be at all. Devs have confrimed that in several Dev Answers.

Perhaps directing your complaint towards the WoT developers would be more beneficial?

There are no tiers of 'Mechs in MWO...

I'd really like to find out what kind of "match making" there is actually going to be in this game. I'm not concerned that it will be like WoT.. I'm just curious what IS going to be happening with this side of things.

When I join a server on Tribes: Ascend, it's basically a first-in-first-serve thing until the server is full. There is no restriction on who joins.. there's no actual pre-match, matching up of players.. there's just a list of match types and it throws you in the first available for that match type. I would assume that this is how MWO is going to play out. MW:LL is very similar to this except that you get a list of servers and you connect to those servers if there is space available.

It all comes down to how matches are played. From what I've understood, a match ends when everyone has been killed or the objective(s) has been met. There was another glimpse at a match where you have 4 mechs in a dropship and can respawn 4 times. In MW:LL on the other hand it is a timed match where you keep respawning over and over until the match time ends. In Tribes: Ascend, it is also a timed match with unlimited respawns until the time runs out or the objective(s) are met.... It's all going to come down to how matches are won and how many respawns are available each time.

If you only get a single spawn, like in WoT, then pre-match match making of somekind will be required.. if there are multi-spawns for that match type, then still some kind of pre-match stuff needs to take place.. if there are unlimited spawns, then no match making needs to be done....

So would be nice to know this kind of stuff.

My biggest complaint about WoT and the reason why I don't play it... WoT doesn't have any giant robot stompy goodness.

Honestly I would guess match making would be best based off a ladder ranking system, with different tiers based on your ranking. My 2 C-bills. :)

Yup.. that could work.. like Star Craft II does it's match making... you can still play with your friends and all that but if you basically ask for the system to "match make" for you, it is based on your performance and ranking etc.

Again.. I'd really like to know the facts behind this though from a Dev.. might go pose the question in one of the "Ask the Dev" things..

My #1 complaint with WoT: It's not MWO. Seriously, the closer it gets to August 7th the poorer WoT feels as a temporary substitute.

Also, I don't believe WoT has the UrbanMech.

I agree 100%. WoT is a pile of crap. Thankfully, though, the main difference between WoT and what this game will be (from what I've been told) is that even the smallest units will be able to scratch the paint on the largest ones.

(Sadly, I'm stuck playing WoT until this game comes out.)
