So we know for a fact our first two maps are based on caustic valley and alpine peaks. How is that effecting your mech builds and drop deck choices?

Ok you have seen caustic you have seen alpine and you did read where paul said the maps were open. I mean seriously we are inelegant people we can look at the information and make a dang good guess.

It doesn't. My Mechs are mostly designed to be useful in most situations.

Preparing too much ahead of time and getting too specific will just bring tears when my uninformed assumptions end up wrong.

Random hot or cold? No help there... Both Caustic and Alpine are LRM friendly... I think a mixed loadout is best...

Both them offer 2000 meter lines of fire all over the place.

If you stand in the open, yeah, but there are plenty of locations where you can approach under cover. I suspect the CW maps will be much the same.

Spoiler

The map looks like Alpine with choke points. So you can go either long range or short range.
If you drop in a coordinated 12 man group you can win even on Alpine using close range builds.

caustc = warm and flat
alpine = cool and hills

without knowing if hills/flat, you don't know which weapons.
without knowing cool or hot, you also don't know which weapons.

so we do know nothing that can essentially lead to sepcific loadots. because the maps could be:

hot hills
cool hills
hot plains
cool plains.

all we know is a single picture wiht a gate being in a canyon like surrounding, but thats only a fraction of the map. Nothign to actually make a proper decision from.

which means so far not special preparations, bring the usual laser vomit because it works even in mordor, and so it will also work an whatever map you come across until you know which special builds are required.

You know it astounds me tons of people will pick thire four mechs but no one will talk about the ground those mechs have to handle. What you gonna do if you picked two king crabs and two locusts spend all your cbills and discover cw is all sniper friendly maps you gota move fast on. I am really trying to reduce the butt hurt I see coming on the 16th by prodding you all to have realistic plans.

Locusts are pretty hard to snipe and crabs are great at long range. 2xGauss 2xPPC/ERLL? No problem!

I am going to start with the long ranged energy mechs I have ready. Then go from there. Trial and error FTW. :)

I play fast medium mechs regardless of conditions. in a sniping map I sneak up behind snipers and cut their throats. in open range maps full of lrm boats I mash the cower button until opportunity strikes then I get in close and do my work. on close quarters maps well I just JJ over you and drop the hammer.

If and ever we get to select from a small pool of mechs after we get shoved to random map not much we can do but guess. I will not know further info until after the Resistance pack is unleashed.

Ok so you are dedicate to short range how will you change your mechs if you can not fond a way to close the distance? The core I want people to understand is cw is going to require us all to play a very tactical game. Pug quee murder ball is likely not going to be optimized to handle fortifications an dc large open maps. When my unit rolls in the group quee we get cursed out alot because we refuse to pug ball and we refuse to lrm boat we avoid brawls. By the look of it cw is going to be a playground from heaven for a play style like that. It isnt the fast furious crush of metal it is a cold calculation and nothing more. I would rather people understand that becore they rage
