Okay, as we all know there is a massive centipede beasty on the new map. Dead thankfully.

However imagine if it where not dead? Imagine if one or more such beast(s) was menacing settlement and so a force of Battlemechs had been called in to attempt to hunt down and kill this monstrosity before it got any more out of hand?

In this game mode a team of one or more Battlemech companies would move (much, much larger) through a larger version of Veridian Swamp and attempt to kill one or more of these monsters. The monsters would be fast moving, equipped with huge mandibles that could inflict massive damage and its claws could knock over a Mech and damage it.

Any thoughts?

So 'mechs vs monsters co-op mode?

Would rather have standard PvE vs tanks, helicopters, and other AI 'Mechs, but maybe having the giant centipede as a boss on the viridian bog map would be fun.

I just want the thing's hide for armor. THAT's why I fight on that map, for it's resources. :D

100ft long centipede probably weigh as much as an Atlas, would be fun having to fight indigenous wild animals. I remember hearing some Battletech stories where there were large and dangerous animals on some of the planets. Having a match like assault, only you run the chance of having your mech damaged and destroyed from animals, plus having to defeat the opposing team would be challenging, PGI's next challenge each team has to successfully beat a 100ft centipede, destroy the other team, and have to cap the enemies base before an orbital bombardment countdown blows up the base...

I think its a "shrimp"... or maybe lobster... monster. Not so much centipede. Just the way the left over "shell" looks to me, looks a bit like the remains after a surf-n-turf dinner.

But whatever kind of critter it was, a bit of PvM might be fun. As long as it was "destructible", had limbs or whatever to knock off so it at least looked like the mechs were making progress in killing it while the fight wore on.

But actually being able to hunt and kill a big one, with rewards and such....

Given our limited (very limited) game mode selection and the fact that it is reasonable to think that these critters may become a pest to locals/ambush Mechs (there 100+ feet long for feths sake) and are most certainly predatory it does seem like a Mech hunting team seeking out and killing these monsters would be fun to do :)

just imagine both teams fighting, then there is a huge explosion in the distance and everyone turns as the drop ships yell out that they are being attacked before the coms cut out. then the ground begins to rumble and one of those giant bugs just crawls over the edge of the map and starts attacking.

Guess its not so much a hide as a shell or exoskeleton... There's a more scientific term I'm sure....

You can already do this.

The game is called EVOLVE, http://evolvegame.com/agegate , and it's by the guys that made the Left 4 Dead games.

I didn't go for early buy in, but I'm hoping that this game lives up to it's hype.

SO at teh end of the Match all the player names would Read BOY? Cause my brother was a legendary Centi player and could play hours on 1 quarter. He used BOY as his initials.

"But Those aren't your initials Chris!"

"Well I'm not a girl!"

And you think MY logic is weird!

I am somewhat hopeful that one day we will have some sort of Team Vs AI game mode similar to the TF2 MvM mode. I would however prefer to be fighting waves of AI mechs, tanks, aero, helicopters, artillery and infantry.
