So I'm now ready to buy myself an Assault mech. I've selected the Battlemaster chassis as I like its balance of weapon load outs and middle ground in terms of weight.

I've selected this build for the BLR-1D as it seems to suit my current play style.

It combines long range harassment, with mid/close range destructive power. Once damaged mechs start closing in, this build I hope will be ideal for finishing them off. I've particularly been enjoying the crit-seeking function of the LB-10X + MG's combo recently.

Any assault pilots got any thoughts on this one? Is there another chassis I might be better off with? Or another variant or load out that I should consider?

Thank you!

no need to not use a big xl engine. in about 90% the destruction of your CT will be the case. I like the battlemaster, but the broken hitbox is a pain in the ass.

The battlemaster is my favorite and most used battlemech. 11 of these beasts are in my mech hangar and i love them all

Your build is good. But it could use some little adjustment

BLR-1D

I removed half ton of MG ammo, added 1 ton extra of LB 10X, removed a DHS and then used endo. In wich i installed the Battlemasters trusty STD 340 engine, that will give you a boost in speed and mobility over the STD 325

I have had my battlemaster saved MANY times ingame thanks to an STD engine.

I Have always run XL390s in my Battle masters, 80+KPH, and before Clan mechs arrived they were one of my most reliable mechs with a 3+ KDR. I usually ran the D with 2 AC5s 1 PPC and 4 MLs. The BLR is very safe with XLs because of its huge CT and Massive arms that absorb alot of dammage. The 82 KPH means you can out pace most other assult mechs and many heavy mechs.
Most of my builds revolve around speed, and it works well for me, but not everyone, so that engine size depends entirely on your playstyle and what works for you.

As others have said, the BLR is one of the few assaults that runs XLs well. Your build's pretty good and they're a lot of fun. A bit fragile, so keep your distance until enemies are actively engaging others.

Thank you, that is a fine addition to the build!

BLR-1D works well with 4 Large lasers (fire in groups of 2 and stay clear of main battle line, aka dont brawl) and 3 machineguns,STD engine of course.

BLR-3M likes the XL engine, with XL355 or 350 you can make a 58 alphastrike laservomit (2 LPL 6 MPL) with proper heat management. If you like speed and dont mind the range,XL395 with 23 DHS and 8 MPL.
With the stock STD340,go for 2 LL 6 ML
