Dropships can annihilate even assaults within seconds. You do not want to get close to them.

This. Anything that can mount an Atlas' drop-weight in PPC's is something to give a VERY wide berth.

Also, some dropships have exhaust plumes that can outright melt assault mechs in seconds. AKA: Weaponized exhaust.

This - even a Leopard, the dropship that only carries a Lance, is armed thusly:

2 PPCs, 3 LRM20s, 7 MLs, 5 LLs.

And that's the stock version.

And...they're much more mobile.

WHY are we using Battlemechs again?.....

I think players should be able to manually select their drop location within their team's territory, and maybe even drop themselves directly on top of an opponent's head if that enemy is within their "spawn" area. Steel Rain!

A la how Battlefield does it or... Mechwarrior Living Legends.

The important thing for the devs to consider here--and will dramatically aid the stale gameplay, is allowing drops behind enemy lines--i.e. ANY of the drop points, not just your team's side.

Because while they are more powerful then battlemechs, they are not as cost efficient and are huge targets. Also with the loss of technology and production facilities during the Succession wars, jumpships and dropships became an off limits target due to their value. People where afraid of losing the ability to travel in space, so they decided just to fight on the ground.By the time we are at, 3049, production and technology is coming back online, but dropships and jumpships are still valuable resources that are not to be squandered. Also big stompy robot game.

I hope like everything else in this game that the dropships are not OP but lean towards realism for their load and armor. If the attacking team is out gunned and even the help of a dropship isnt enough then so be it.

Only one or two Jumpships had weapons.

What I have to laugh about is that Naval Missiles do more Kinetic damage when they aren't armed! IIRC Barracuda does 2 damage when armed but could deliver 18 damage ramming a ship!

Actually that's the "realistic" part. The real question is why isn't "ramming" the default mode.

Oh I'm just hoping that the drop ships don't really land and we fall through the atmosphere with landing jump jets / packs so we can choose our landing zone. Heck they could make that a mini game!

Spawn camping is real. Coordinated teams can pull it off. Played two games now. In both games, the camp was spawned and we got stomped.

So sad... CW had soo much potential. They should really make a mini game out of landing and let your pilot your Mech down from a low orbit drop. At least you could drop behind the bad guys or somewhere completely random.

Yap, watched many streams , and yes spown camping is real , all you need is clan lasers and you can be far enough to take light damage from the dropship but they take a 4+ mech alpha before they get control of there mech.

My suggestion is that mechs get hotdroped in to a bunker, open underpass ( like in mining colony tunnel with a piece of an open roof ) or a trench and then make a small climb to to get out, so it can only be shot while falling , wich would be an improvement.

The trench, bunker or underpass would need to be able to hold up to 4 mechs so that if it is being camped sufficient force could collect there before going out in front of the fireing line!

Yep, watched the Streams too - Spawncamping with Clan Weapon Ranges is really no hassle...

Spawn camping is not a problem if you have 5-6 mechs.

I've been spawn camped and crippled in seconds upon landing.

I've spawn camped, and I think the drop ship shot me with a large laser once before my lance turned the dropped mech into a smoldering pile of slag...

So as the title says who here can't wait for CW and all the Spawn camping to commence? Who ever controls the oppositions spawning points will win. Unless spawns are random, but I don't see PGI making that decision correctly.

The dropship's shoot anyone that is spawn camping; I haven't seen too much of it, but have heard of it happening.

If it becomes a massive issue, let's hope PGI addresses it quickly.
