Obsidian Black Vs Hotrod Black

I finally went ahead and spent a small fortune on a camo and two paint colours. 3250MC's to paint up my Atlas. My other mech is a summoner. One of the colours obsidian black does not appear in its available palette? Hotrod black appeared to be exactly the same colour and this appears in both. Also 1250 for camo for Atlas. I have to pay again for summoner? I have just put $200 into my MC bank and I am feeling like its just been robbed! Do not tell me Obsidian black is an IS only colour. I don't give a damn about "lore". I just paid 1000MC for a colour I cannot use on my other mech. Or am I missing something?

Any colours you purchase are permanently available for any 'mech in your garage regardless of chassis.
Why is Obsidian Black not appearing in my owned colours or in the ALL colours filters when setting camo spec for my summoner. Is this a bug?

Also, you have to be careful about camo patterns. They are never purchased across more than one chassis. if you do the one-shot, it is seriously just one mech. The unlock is for all variants of only one chassis.

Camos. I "wrongly" thought the expensive unlock worked the same as the colours. I have 6 atlas but I only ever use one of them so a one shot camo would have been fine. I bought the expensive one thinking I could use it on my Summoner and whatever my next mech is.

No, it's there if you like to repaint your mech and change camo. Some people find one and just stick with it. The unlock allows you to swap between 2 or more patterns freely if you purchase them. When they are on sale, they are usually 50% off and some patterns are more expensive than others so it might be worth it to some.
Even if you stick with a one shot pattern, you can still freely change the colors at no additional charge though so the best value is really in the one shot.

One shot is as it is described by it's name: It is a single application of the pattern. Once changed, it is gone for good (until repurchased).

The more expensive unlock means its your permanently, you can use it on all variants of that mech AND you can take it off and put it on all day long.
Hotrod Black is shiny, Obsidian Black is shiny AND has a hint of purple in the gleam.
The best black for gameplay is Camo bBack as it doesn't shine so you blend in more.
Failing that, a really dark grey as nothing is really black in the backgrounds... more grey.

I thought the shinyness was more dependent on the mech than the paint.
