Salutations. If any of you PGI people have the time could you please clarify the situation with the faction camos and colours.

I appreciate the early "release" of them but sadly I'm not able to use any single facet of the faction camos at this moment in time. The reason being that I run Invasion variants only and got rid of my standard variants as I will never use them, simple as that really. I was under the impression that Invasion variants would be able to use faction camos but that clearly isn't finished yet.
  • Do you have any estimated completion date for faction camos on Invasion mechs?
I am also unable to use the "unlocked" faction colours on any other mech, in any way. I just get an error and the colours reset to what they were before. Is this intentional or again, a work in progress thing? I was legitimately lead to believe that the colours would be full unlocks. If they're not, why is this?
  • Will the faction colours be fully "unlocked" for general usage? If not, why not and why do you consider these to be "exceptions" to the rule of colour unlocks?
One of the draws of the faction camos is the fact we get, you know, a camo and as such we would be able to customise it with our own colours. Further down the line, this is something I was expecting to be able to do with the Davion camo on my IS mechs. Only being to edit 1 channel which covers around 7.4% of the mech isn't really what I was expecting.
  • Will we be able to change all 3 colour channels on faction camos in the future or will they be locked into "primary" colour configurations. If they will be locked, why did you consider this course of action?
I'm not flaming or complaining, just hoping I could get hold of some more clear cut information as to the function and compatibility of the faction camos as let's face it, up until now we've been running off assumptions (especially with the colour unlocks).

Thanks in advance if you get the time to respond directly.

Oh one last question, often asked.
  • Faction camos on hero mechs. Planned or not?
Cheers!

Edit: Faction colours now working on other mechs :)

Its a yes to everything I want to give that freedom to all the players - but sadly I do not have any ETA's yet.

It will likely be the early new year before we can give a good ETA you can plan on.

Sorry that is the best we have atm.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Russ, I appreciate it a lot.

Shame you can't provide an ETA but I'm happy that at least it's in the to do list and that you've answered me as best you can.

As you know customisation is one of the big draws of online gaming (I used to be a big fan of APB Reloaded) and MWO is no different. As a casual gamer who relies on the crutch of extra cbills from premium and special mechs I feel a bit left out when it comes to camos.

Thanks again and also for coming here from twitter.

Russ, thanks for addressing this.

I didn't buy the Wave II or Resistance packages for the colors and trinkets (I have plenty of them already), I bought them because my grinding time is precious and the price is pretty good, compared to the amount of time you'd have to play in game to buy all the 'mechs with .

So, the skins and paints and such are truly bonuses to me, and they are very slick looking, but I was expecting to be able to change at least two major colors. Finding out that I could only change one color of a few small stripes was dissappointing (particularly since none of the bonus skins' color schemes comes anywhere near close to the 228th IBR's unit colors).

If you change it ... awesome ... if not, I've voiced my dissappointment, but it won't prevent me from purchasing packages in the future, if the value continues to be good.
